Please tell me he isn't our ref again next week, we were bad but he was fucking awful. He must of set the record for the amount of free kicks given.

If he is our ref next week then we are out.

It will be just like with Aris. When they travel to Eastlands suddenly they won't get free kicks for every dive like Kyiv now and Aris few weeks back did at home.

It won't be the same ref. However we cannot blame our own deficiencies on the ref.

Lets look at ourselves and find the remedies to our own problems.

When you play in Europe you need to adapt to different, conditions, playing styles and referees.

It's all part of it.

Yes, but what can't be avoided is that every time we challenged one of their players in a tackle, or brushed up against them, or every time Micah Richards breathed on one of them, they fell over!!
Thus it was very difficult to establish any kind of rhythm.
I think it wasn't until about the 85th minute, when two dives within 5 seconds of each other went 'unrewarded', that the 'ref' showed like he had finally cottoned on to what they were about.

We should have shown more urgency
Or invention.

But that Kiev team were a disgrace.

But, ironically, the one time when their diving could have paid rich dividends, -Kompany's penalty area challenge on Sheva, for the type of challenge which Patrick Vieira was twice punished for in recent weeks, - wasn't made, when Sheva stayed on his feet

I'm amazed at the negativity about Barry, although I'm not specifically referring to last night's game.
By and large I think he's improved greatly on last season and while he's no Nigel De Jong, he doesn't have a clearly defined role he tends to plug gaps in all areas of the field, including attack.
Although Ya ya has been more of a big play player, Barry quietly goes about his business, content to play second fiddle
