A-league grand final

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

A-league grand final

Postby Pretty Boy Lee » Sun Mar 13, 2011 11:02 am

Just got in from the game and what a night it was.

0-0 after extra tome with my beloved Brisbane bossing it but not finding the break through.

1st period of ET and disaster strikes, Central Coast go two up before the break.

Big Ange goes for it and uses our last sub and we go all out. 5 mins of the 2nd period left and we get one back. Last minute of Et and we equalise.

Next up pens. Roar Don't miss one and Michael Theoklitos makes 2 saves to see Brisbane lift the double (minor and major premiers) and end my 26 years as a football fan without a trophy for one of his teams.

Next up City FA cup please.
Tracking back is overrated.

One of the greatest games of football I've seen, it had pretty much everything.

Fantastic advertisement for the game over here and hopefully the press do it justice.

Heres hoping I never again have to sit in a 50000 seat stadium with 4000 people.

My m8 who lives in Aus just wrote this on his facebook status.Hes a roar fan.

Wow 2-0 down in the second period of extra time then come back to 2-2 in the last attack of the match nice then win the penalty shoot out never heard the stadium erupt like that must be all the ex pat supporters. Really different style of football to watch takes some getting used to watching all those intricate patterns not much bite out there either in fact not one yellow card that's not football lol

Sounds like a classic match, will have to see if I can find a torrent of it as I'd love to see it.

Hope this bodes well for City today and for the end of the season.

This was the Gillingham game lads. Back from the dead. Just amazing. What an atmosphere.

To those going to the game today and for the rest of the season. DONT EVER GIVE UP ON YOUR TEAM. EVER EVER EVER. I get the feeling Thursday is going to be one of those games.

Incidentally, after Central Coast scored their second goal about 1000 people left for the exit. But because the buses don't leave until after the game they were forced to come back. Lucky for them. hehe

I bet you said just that after the Gillingham game, eh.

Congratulations, PBL & Dazby. Get pissed up and fall over.

Why?

BTW, Tokyo, I'm not a Roar fan per se. I went for the spectacle. I went to all the finals games and was treated to some real quality. Slim's got his head too far up his Perth Glory arse to see it.

I despise the Perth Glory as much as any of them, but certainly the way they have cart before the horsed the entire league. 4,000 people sitting in a 50,000 seater sort of backs that up.

If you were treated to any quality it was probably all pinging from 30 yards that you mistakenly think is quality. Can't defend, no technical skill and this applies to the entire league. Any of these teams would struggle in League Two.

For the record as well, the Roar were being screamed at to lump it with 5 mins to go down 2-0 and did what they have done all season pateintly picked apart the opposition with short passing and hard work.

I have been to every game and while it is certainly on a MUCH smaller scale, the Roar are the pinnacle of Australian football. When they lose the ball they press in numbers to win it back, play a great high tempo, short passing game. They have good overlapping fullbacks, have players that are comfortable on the ball from front to back and have scored so many last gasp goals that there is simply no way they are not the fittest team in the league.

Obviously a small league, but 28 unbeaten and comebacks like this are worth championing. I love goint to the football and after 6 seasons I'm finally seeing some quality for my money. Slim can moan all he likes, but it's been a hell of a year and I've even picked up some ideas for the teams I coach, something I never thought possible in this league as there has been a lot of shite over the years.

You are retarded and fishing for something you imagined.

The only comment I made directly on the game was the attendance which you said in your second post. In fact most of what I said could only be applied to the league as a whole and unless it was 11v11v11v11v11v11v11...etc, then you should keep your imagination in check, cause it's following your example and is also retarded.
