Yaya "Donkey" Toure

Postby Ruthless » Fri Mar 18, 2011 7:18 am

Anyone else think this guy is a waste of time? Again last night he seemed to just watch the game goin on round him, he didn't seem to wanna do anything? Should we be carrying players just for the one run he has in a match n even after that he looks like he's that knackered u would think he'd ran a marathon. Everytime he went to win a header he just gave a token gesture the guys huge yet can only jump 2" off the floor, he must have one hell of a cock on him if thats as high as he can get of the floor it must be weighin him down to fuck. Now for me he just a passenger in most games why do we have to play him and Barry to do the job one man does in every other team, there is one simple reason for it........THEY'RE NOT FUCKIN GOOD ENOUGH, get rid of em both n get a player that'll put the effort in and can do the job

Just wondering.

You don't play for Barca if you are a shit player.

If his issue is one of fitness he should be subbed Elano style til the end of the season and then swapped. Or, we could deploy him as a def mid, which is what he was before we got him, and discourage him from going forward as often as he does. Surely he, gazbaz and De Jong can take it in turns to get forward.

Mancio needs to get cute and put the square pegs in the square holes.

Yeah i must be thats why we're playing so well n tearin everyone in sight apart, I agree with his 2nd post only thing is none of these 3 players have what it takes to be a creative midfielder or playmaker thats why they are not, 3 defensive midfielders where for the team who were runners up in the world cup NDJ does the job well on his own, no creativity other than silva who cant do it all, n massively over hyped players we have been told are world beaters that we paid the earth for! Back 4 solid n lookin good, Silva NDJ quality Tevez class the rest, a waste of time n money........ Which bit of this am i wrong about? Get AJ playing regularly n a playmaker then play Dzeko upfront with Carlos then we will have a team startin to take shape. How often did Yaya play n keep a place in Barca's team? He was a fill in when their class was injured or rested

You're doing well mate, keep it up.

At least he has an opinion and isn't shy about it, doesn't dazby live by the mantra of attacking the argument not the person? I live by a different mantra, you are all fucktards....but he hasn't been able to prove my argument wrong yet, certainly not by example anyway.

Ruthless, I really hate the "get rid" attitude which is why I asked your age. The club spent a lot of money on balo and yaya so they must have seen something in them to bring them in first place. The job of a manager is to extract every bit of ability out of those players for the benefit of the team.

My suggestion for your first post is not to say "get rid" but "use them properly."

Yaya plays 1 good game in about 5, it's not good enough and he should be dropped.

Last night, once agian he offered us nothing but stayed on the pitch. Mancini needs to forget how much we paid for him and play the best XI for the job in hand.

Yaya has talents, especially flicking the ball backwards about 10 yards each and every single time he gets it. Then the occasional interesting but ultimately fruitless solo burst. He is a big problem, IMHO. Our game is slowed by him as so much goes through him and he excels at back passing. I find it shite, much of the time. However, I remember him being literally awesome versus Liverpool and Chelsea, so he is obviously very talented. Perhaps he is playing to Mancini's orders?

Yaya was signed (imo) to be another DeJong type player but one who gets up & down the pitch better. It was evident that he didn't have the legs for that job, so Bob converted him into an attacking midfielder, which I thought was a stroke of genius on his part & when he's at his best, City are. He's not at his best very often though & can't last 90 mins.

If he's to be a success at either position in the prem, he has to have a great pre season & up his fitness levels. I think there's a chance he may do that because I've been watching him closely & although it may sound ridiculous to say it at this moment; his fitness levels are increasing imo. I recon he'd have a chance now of playing 2 decent games out of three rather than the 1 in 5 KK mentions but Bob is overplaying him when he should be rested. He can't do what Bob is asking.

Next season I recon he'll have to play more of a deeper role as Bob (or Jose or whoever) will sign someone like Sneijder to add goals etc to the midfield.

we play to many defensive midfielders and he is being asked to do a job that is better suited to milner - there is no reason to play him, barry and nige all at the same time - the end result is a lack of goals

Yaya had a good game last night. There were 3 or 4 occasions in the first half when he got Richards, Silva and Tevez away behind their deep back line with cheeky little chipped passes. No one else got us in behind all game. Not Silva, not Barry, not Tevez.

He does look like he lacks the energy to sustain 90 minutes in his position. HOWEVER, we should bear in mind that he's gone from playing an occassional Xabi Alonso role for the world's best side (who rarely come under any sustained pressure) to a more up-and-down game in the world's most frenetic league. He's actually been more consistent than any other summer signing other than Silva.

Had we found a second goal from somewhere last night, this thread would never have surfaced.

He was looking better before the sending off - even got a couple of crosses in from their area.

I am still unsure in some ways re this guy. First though I don't buy into the unfit stuff which the majority go on about.Seems I am out on a limb on that but the very fact that he has played so often and just keeps going suggests to me he is pretty fit.The problem is that over a very short distance he is really lacking as he just takes a good few yards to get going.Plus there are those instances where, especially after one of his long runs, where he looks as though he is about to die and has his hands on his knees.I usually think that's just a recation to the move going wrong or pass going astray. Not good I know but not a gurantee that he is unfit.I would be interested to know the stats on the distances he covers each match.

The issue for me is more his ability and where he best fits into the team.He says himself he feels his best ( most natural) position is defensive midfield.Personally I don't see that in England.Nigel fits the bill perfectly as he is sharper over those few yards and reads the game so well. What Nigel can't do that Yaya can is move forward with the ball and threaten.

Personally I like Yaya in an attacking midfield role with licence to join and get beyond the striker.I think he shows a very good touch, can play quick short one twos, sees openings quite well, has a good touch and can score a goal.

Using yaya properly means playing him instead of NDJ n that just isnt an option NDJ is the best defensive midfielder in the world, Bobby is still trying to put square pegs in round holes, n Balo no matter what he could be is a liability, i have been one of his biggest fans but i just dont think what he gives is worth the agro on the off chance he gets his head sorted n comes good somewhere down the line
