With a hectic period coming up we will probanly see more of him.
But his failings are still there.

but if im honest before the goal I was slagging him off for doing fck all. He was still as 'mobile' as hes been over the last 18 months.

My thoughts exactly. Although it would be churlish in the extreme to criticise yesterday's performance I can't help but feel he isn't the type of player that fits Pep's style. Far too languid and laboured

He did the job on the day, took his chances and will have enhanced his value when we offload him. Happy.

Look at the extended highlights

https://www.mancity.com/citytv/match-hi ... 9565321243

and the sequence before the Palace goal, starting at 4:50. What's missing from that is Yaya's ineffectual challenge (standing off, letting the Palace player pass) in the Palace attack that immediately preceded the City attack. (Admittedly, he is a liability when he tackles just outside the box.) Anyway, see him jog back when Palace attacked at pace, leaving the goalscorer, Wickham, to get free outside the box.

Yaya would be good in Pep's system as a second striker (centre circle to box) against 'weaker' teams or as an impact sub when opponents are tired, but don't expect him to do any effective defensive work. The others would have to work extra hard to cover for him, but we've known this for a couple of years, particularly in Europe, and Pep knows it too.

This I'm intrigued by given that Yaya and Seluk are seemingly at odds over Guardiola.

Seems like a decent chance to be a smug cunt and quote some posts from the start of the season (although that's all too easy in this thread):

Someone mentioned a Pat V type role. Problem is that Paddy still had a lot of desire even when he was close to retiring. Same can't be said for Yaya.

Can guarantee this threat will be brought up a few times this season when Yaya scores or assists some incredible goals. Now he might not do much else, but not a bad type of player to have off the bench when plan A or B isn't working

But he hasn't been on a bench to come off it. So obviously not in Pep's plans.

Many times the lazy cunt has cost us a goal by losing possession or being too fuckign lazy to chase down the cunt that dispossessed him.

I knew PEP would bin him to the sidelines if he couldnt sell him on......it was so obvious.

Yes but he'll play some games this season. There is a mutual respect between the two, which you can see in many of the "behind the scenes" videos.

And while his touch was off in the last game he played for us, Yaya was running about much more than last year. Once his fitness gets up, he'll be a good option from the bench. Pep is smart enough to know when and how to use him as well.

All I'm saying is people have been saying Yaya is finished for years, and each time he scores a few wonder goals. And while the effort could have been better, I'd also blame the managers who became over reliant on Yaya, and built the whole team around him without a plan b

You've quoted me there at a time when Yaya wasn't put in to the Champions League squad and he wasn't even on the bench for us in the Premier League. So he wasn't in Pep's plans.

I bet you had loads of friends at boarding school...

I can assure you that Pep thinks more that 1 month in advance and Yaya was still in his plans at the time.

And while I've always have been a bit smug, I certainly didn't grow up in a wealthy family. So you could say I had as many friends at 'boarding school' as you did at Uni

Glad I could clear it up for you. So to sum up what we've learned today:

1. Those who write off Yaya will be proven wrong almost every time.
2. Yaya was always in Pep's plans for this season.
3. Pep knows the proper way to use an incredible player like Yaya.
4. I never attended boarding school.
5. I have no friends at the boarding school that I never attended.
6. Kolarov is still a massive liability when he has to do the defending part of being a defender
7. You are a thin-skinned idiot who wrote off Yaya and was proven wrong (see point 1)

Pep said he wouldn't play Yaya until he apologised. He left him out of he Champions League squad.

I think what we've learned today is you're a self-righteous turd.
