Even today he spent a lot of time with his hands on his knees after the hour mark and it just seems unconscionable that a professional athlete at this level of game shouldn't be able to get his fitness to a standard that can last him 90 minutes.
This is true but he is getting fitter. He can't play at top level for more than one game per week as it stands but even allowing for that, if he can keep improving fitness, by next season, he may become the player I hoped he'd be when we signed him.
I think it is an illusion that Yaya isnt fit enough. Every time that he has the chance of making a surging run, early or late in the game, he does it and looks awesome. Some have said he got a stitch yesterday and was struggling but he had taken a knock in the ribs and was struggling a little with that.He shook that off quite quickly though. He just has a strange way of carrying that big body of his which makes him look as though he nothing left to give.
I agree Doug, he seems knackered after those surging runs, but he quickly recovers. Top player and makes us tick imo.
Yesterday he was doing more constant running than he has all season. Usually he goes missing for a rest every 5 mins & virtually packs in after an hour, with one sprint every 15 mins after that. If it's been an illusion, he's in the wrong job as he could give Derren Brown a run for his money.
I think your'e right.
Yaya seems to be giving some the illusion he is unfit whilst he is not.
Seems he has a few fooled.

I didn't bother to get involved in this OP at the beginning because I figured everyone would work it out in the end.
Games like yesterday and West Ham just sort of put the icing on the cake. As the last posters say, he thinks he's knackered but he isn't. As the commentator said yesterday a few minutes later he's usually leaving everyone in his wake again.
But what Yaya 'actually does' mainly is constantly moves around holding the line in front of the oppo when they have the ball. He sort of lumbers around, but always puts himself in front of them to cut out the easy balls and defend from the front(ish) (nowadays). People see him lying on the ground after one of his bursts, but the rest of the time he is in a sort of perpetual, lower-gear motion. He's also big, very tough and knows where the goal is.
People used to wonder years ago why our diddy, lightweight midfield was bossed out of a game. Doesn't happen too much nowadays.

If he's not been knackered he's a lazy cunt.
I prefer to think he's been trying but just not been quite fit enough to cover the ground.

Us getting knocked out of the Europa Cup could be the best thing to happen to Ya Ya for the run-in, because he looked fresher, by the end of the game, as I can ever recall him look.
And although he looked a bit winded after his goal, he wasn't doubled over.

Yaya has been knocked unjustly a lot of times this season. No doubt he will be again but for me he has been excellent this season and was awesome today. If others had been up to his standard we would have won by at least 2

Once Mancini split the three central midfielders they just couldn't play Yaya. Immense for the last hour and completely deserved the goal and MoTM.

Well done today Yaya but you need to do it on a regular basis.
I want to see him dominate that shite at Wembley then I will eat humble pie.
I'll happily share it with you. I'll get a spoon...
Well.
If you want a recipe I'd be more than willing to oblige.

Yaya can do what the fuck he wants from now on.
Scoring a winner in a derby earns you a place in City history but he did so much more and pressed their much vaunted midfield into insignificance in the second half
If you can get Legend Status in one match it was earnt today
