It's an oldie but a goodie... from 2008, includes Alan Ball, Svennis, Peter Reid (Harsh) and good old DAVID PLATT, well worth a read as to his record:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008 ... llmanagersClaude Anelka would top my list of them - hilarious. No Mancini.

John Barnes is given a mention as part of the England '86 squad but I reckon he should be No. 1 in his own right.
Super Caley Go Ballistic, Celtic Are Atrocious
Dr Josef Venglos was another comedy crap Celtic boss.
I don't really like this manager-bashing though. We're all the best armchair manager in the world. And it REALLY fucks me off when the likes of Lawrenson oand Hansen have a dig.

manager bashing makes the world go around. venglos is a good call. so is frank clark. i think chris hutchings and claude anelka are def my faves though.
peter taylor is notable too for an extremely rapid rise and then fall. plus he's a cunt.

Peter Reid and Mancini deserve a mention in the top 'spirit sapping' managers

I think that reflects more on your lack of spirit than those managers Piccs.

Ha ha John you awld rascal. You might be right though.
Except I'm not alone.
Actually you do have a point though. I liked Horton being manager.
We lined up against Norwich one Saturday with a forward line of Beags, Summerbee, Walsh, Uwe, and Sir Niall. Can you imagine Mancini doing that? No me neither.

What about Billy McNeill? Relegated both us and Villa in the same season!

@ Kinkykola...No need for the water Mate. Piccs is a good guy and I wouldn't wish him any harm, let alone do any harm to him...He can take it!
On reflection though, I think i could address that post about spirit to quite a few on here. It used to shock me just how negative and dispitited many on here were (are).
These are some of the greatest days to be a City fan...ever. It doesn't seem thast long ago that we had George Poyser who gave direction to the club...downwards...Or the time travelling Coppell, who managed to leave almost before he arrived. Big Billy McNeill who not only helped relegate us...but went to do similar to Villa. And, while Piccs maybe right about the dire football under Peter Reid, it was under his stewardship...dire or not...in 1990-91, that we last were able to hold our heads up, look the rags in the eye and say..."WE'RE BETTER THAN YOU"...It was the last time we finished above them.
And lest anyone forgets, what about a special mention and rousing cheer for that wonderful season of 1995-96, when we could have almost had our own club Manager of the Month Award...It saw the end of Alan Ball's reign...followed by Asa Hartford (8), Steve Coppell (6), Phil Neal (10), before the guitar strumming Frankie took us on our plunge to hell.
...and some of you think you're having a hard time with Mancini.....sheeesh!

That's some dream team that.
Personally I think Alan Ball and Souness are in league of their own as far as worst managers ever go. People like Claude Anelka were comedy relief at best.
Personally I think Stuart Pearce is underrated (or should that be overrated?) in this department. Like Ball a fantastic person but as a manager completely clueless. Now THAT was booring football.

Alan Ball and John Barnes will be on the podium for sure.
Bryan Robson was also complete garbage, for sheer laughs John "and you can bring yer fackin dinner" Sitton must merit a mention

Steve Staunton has to be in with a shout for sheer comedy value alone.
He was a complete and utter disaster with Ireland. With absolutely no managerial experience it's probably the oddest managerial appointment ever.
I thought maybe at Darlington he had found his level but that was not the case. After 25 games and a grand total of 4 wins he was given his marching orders. It will be a minor miracle if another chairman ever even contemplates appointing this man.
