I have to say I agree with him...

Sir Alex Ferguson has condemned the decision to play this season's FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley, predicting it will be "absolute chaos" as supporters of four north-west clubs converge on London.

Ferguson believes Anfield and Villa Park should have been used rather than asking supporters of Manchester United, Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers and Stoke City to pay for a trip to the capital.

The United manager said: "Just think about this one issue, which is important: there'll be 60,000 people coming down from Manchester - you think about how much petrol is used for that. This is one issue alone.

"Think of the amount of people from the north-west driving away down there. Stoke fans, Bolton fans, City fans, United fans – and on the same weekend Liverpool fans are travelling down [to play Arsenal]. And you've also got people coming down to see the London Marathon. It's going to be absolute chaos.

"I don't think the cost of people travelling down to Wembley is considered. You've got Villa Park and Anfield just there on your doorstep. It's quite incredible but there's nothing that can be done about it. It's always nice to go to Wembley, but I think it's much better if you just go for a final. That's an incentive for every player: to play in a final at Wembley."

On the prospect of an FA Cup semi-final against neighbours Manchester City, Ferguson said: "It's the draw everybody thought would happen. I had a strong feeling that we'd get City. I'm not saying there's a hot ball and a cold ball, but it's maybe the kind of draw that a lot of people wanted – and maybe a lot of people didn't want."

When asked whether United's greater experience of Wembley would stand them in good stead for the tie, Ferguson added: "In terms of advantage, I hope so, yes. We've been there a lot. But in fairness, City have a lot of experienced players who've probably played there."

Ferguson doesn't think there's anything wrong with drinking whiskey in the morning and having a head like a bag of rashers.

This has to be taken into account when assessing other outlooks of his.

feel dirty saying this, but I agree with him. Wembley should be for finals.

Stoke v bolton should be at the swamp and our game should be villa or newastle. I'd even be willing to play it at the swamp, if we could have the home dressing room.

Fair play to him. He's concerned about the cost for Northerners travelling down to London, but he never says a word about how the Glazers are ripping off the cockney's that support his own club. He obviously has as much contempt for them as we do...

I don't think they should be at Wembley either. But now that I've heard that this fuck face doesn't want them there also I think I'll change my opinion.
Anything that gets this cunt angry gets my vote

To be fair to the old cunt, he does have a point this time around. That said I somehow don't think petrol used to get there is a big issue with London being one of the most tourist driven cities in the world. Thousands flock in and out every day.

Have to say I agree with the pickled old bag of piss.

Why should football fans be inconvenienced because the FA were careless with the costs when building Wembley?

Give the next man to get the England job 2 million rather than 6 million a year and use the saved money to service the debts.

Plus getting to a Wembley FINAL should be sacred.

Just because he says semifinals shouldn't be at Wembley, then I am all for having it there instead, and maybe the quarter finals too. :D

Seriously tho, I think it would be more special if only the final was at Wembley; imho the semifinals should be treated like every other round in the cup, one team plays at home, if the outcome it's a draw then there's a replay at the other team's ground; no need to pick another stadium and make it neutral with extra-time and penalties imho.

I think they should make the semi final weekend in Cardiff.
Brilliant ground, big enough and still a decent special trip.

Save Wembley for the final.

Ferguson can't get a semi in Wembley or anywhere else for that matter anymore.
