Cahill and Komps?

Martin Keown thinks they would be a formidable partnership

thoughts?

For me, it would make sense but would be another gamble as Cahill has only looked the real deal this season (that said, perhaps some non city fans might say the same things about our Vince)

Cahill would likely jump at the chance and isn't likely to cost us an arm and a leg either... hmmm

He is a good defender, I think Coyle has been biting any fingers that head in his direction for a couple of windows now. Better than Lescott? Not convinced of that fact but without Kolo for at least the first half of next season we could use a third senior central defender.

Is that assumption Slim or have I missed something? When is KT's review, or again have I missed that!

Assumption, but I think if Paddy Kenny got 9 months I see too many similarities and I think we're probably looking at the same length ban.

Not for me.I must be one of the few who don't rate Cahill that highly. Not that he is a bad player but I just don't see him as that good.I think he makes mistakes and is positionally average.Yes he can make some great last ditch tackles and he is good in the air but so can Micah? Definitely Lescott ahead of him for me.

Interesting that....I presume that the closed season also applies as "time served" for any ban....which is potentially good news for us

My thoughts too Doug. Cahill's good but is he better than what we have already and worth the £15 - £20m fee we'd have to pay? Id say not.

Add me to that club. Been more impressed with his attacking than his defending. Not seen anything so far which puts him above average as a defender. Perhaps all the fuss is about potential rather than based on his actual current performance?

I'd go as far as to say Lesscott is our best defender atm.
Even better then the Kompster.
Although we should now dump toure, Cahill seems a good good defender.

From what i remember seeing of him (which isn't that much) he's not as good as Lescott, and I'd put Kolo ahead of him too (obviously Kompany is ahead of all of them right now). He's 'Dawson-esque'.

I wonder how much Keown has seen of him live cos I've been told that to be able to judge how a player positions himself and the runs he makes etc... one has to be a real fan who goes to the matches.Besides the few times he has come to our ground I should imagine most people are judging him by what they have seen on TV.So I don't see how people can have an opinion on him by only seeing probably, once a year ,unless they are using the TV coverage to judge.Maybe his stats would be helpful.

Probably why he's been compared to Terry then.
