Kompany as well for me. Thought he was immense - just so composed at all times.

But everyone played well today - great team performance.

A tie between Silva and Johnston. Both opened up a supply chain to the front line, and both scored.

Honourable mention to Mario--not an outstanding day, but he stayed out of trouble despite provocation and was motivated. How on earth did the ref not give a penalty to Mensah who wrapped both his arms wrapped around Mario and wrestled him to the ground? Mario was great-just walked away from it.

De Jong. Didn't lost a tackle all day and played the pass of the match.

Not bad for a limited clogger.

Damn good team performance and far too close to call a MoTM from the usual suspects so I've gone for Boyata. Not playing in his natural position, barely put a foot wrong and his composure at times belies his young age. Well in that lad

Difficult one as Komp, NDJ, AJ, Lescott, Yaya and even Kolarov had a good match but Silva's class clinched it for me.

AJ was tops along with NDJ and YAYA in midfield. Hats off to boyata aswell while Kolarov was improved today!

Really good return to the team.I did think when he got forward he looked a bit lost though.I felt more like the poster who thought we would have seen more of AJ if Micah had played. That's not a complaint about Boyata but more the simple fact that he is a centre back playing full back.

Kolarov. Could've been about 5 or 6 others but Kolarov looked like a top four player for the first time in quite a few games. Hope he keeps it up.

He did play well and what really did please me were his deliveries from corners which were a lot better than of late....but especially the ball he put back into the box for Vieira's goal.

That is the kind of ball that United get rewards from ALL the bloody time. Just straight back into the mix and make things happen. We don't do it enough but we should do it more.

Another positive was the lovely ball over the top that De Jong played for Tevez which led to Silva's goal. The type of thing we didn't used to see from him and which many claimed he was incapable.

Lescott is looking more and more comfortable within the team and with the way we are trying to play. He is still excellent in terms of commanding his man/zone in the defence but he now looks much better on the ball. No lumping it aimlessly upfield yesterday and just doing the simple (but progressive) thing and playing it forward by and large. Pleasing stuff.

Vincent Kompany was simply magnificent yesterday though. That was one of the most dominant centre half performances from a City player that I can recall. He was everywhere and (as the commentators actually said...shock!)...."flawless". It was also clear to me that he's really had his arm around Dedryk's shoulders and Boyata clearly was playing with no apprehension which I credit, in great part, to the influence and presence of Vincent alongside him.

I thought there was a really good sign that all of the attacking players are now pretty close to all having a good understanding. Some intelligent passes, runs and general movement from all of Tevez, Silva, Johnson, Balotelli, Yaya.

Well done to the manager for actually finally doing the smart thing and resting Barry and playing that two man central midfield. Nigel is easily good enough to break up most teams alone and letting Yaya link up midfield and attack is where is at his best for us. If he could now go the extra mile and pull Yaya off when he's blowing and let Milner play that driving central midfield role, well I think we'll see the best from Milner and it would give tiring legs in the opposition a big problem.

I've been very down on him but it was actually great to see SWP come on and look like his confidence was up and he was enjoying himself. I think I'd actually like him to stay next season if he can be happy playing a role and his fucking dad can keep his big mouth shut.

All in all, happy days yesterday. If we can repeat that a couple of times and have a couple of results ground out between now and the finishing line we should be good for the top 4.
