Lennon Sees His Rs On Twitter

From Sky Sports.

Aaron Lennon insists he will not be made a 'scapegoat' for Tottenham's UEFA Champions League drubbing by Real Madrid.

The Spurs winger was forced to pull out of the starting XI just minutes before kick-off of the quarter-final first leg at Santiago Bernabeu due to illness.

That forced a last-second reshuffle from manager Harry Redknapp with Jermaine Jenas drafted into the midfield and given an on-field pre-match briefing by the coaching team in the seconds before the game got under way.

Jenas was marking Emmanuel Adebayor as Real took an early lead through the former Arsenal striker's header, with Peter Crouch's early dismissal then leaving the White Hart Lane club up against it.

Lennon has been upset at suggestions his problem only came to light just before the game and insists the Spurs staff knew of his illness for several days and had prescribed antibiotics at the weekend.

"I fell ill on Sunday morning where the med team put me on antibiotics, but only got worse before Tuesday. "

Lennon wrote on his Twitter feed: "Saying I fell ill before the game is bull****.

"I fell ill on Sunday morning where the med team put me on antibiotics, but only got worse before Tuesday.

"Believe me, this is one game I did not want to miss and still devo now!!!! But will not be made a scapegoat saying they only knew just before KO."

Jolly Good.

Is Crouch keeping his head down? Judging by the size of that's no mean feat.

Twitch was just on that sports based radio station saying Lennon was I'll, and that there isn't a problem. Sounds like Lennon is smacked off his tits on medication.

Don't recall anyone being sorry for us when Mario had his moment of madness. I recall calls for Mario to be deported or shot for costing us the tie along with Mancini a) buying him and b) picking him. Now given that Crouch was even more stupid than Mario and in a higher profile match l assume he and 'arry are getting it in the neck and await Crouch's public apology on the Spurs OS.

Personally if that had being City last night I would have been appalled. The Lennon saga had them all over the place which given they had to stretcher him to Madrid its odd they didn't plan for him not making it and what Crouch did was inexplicable. I honestly wondered if he had taken a bung to act the way he did. VD Vaart was moaning and trying to pick a fight and was generally useless which pretty much sums up his performances for the last few months and it was fucking shambles from start to finish. If that had been Mancini and City it would have been carnage in the media and rightly so given the lack of professionalism shown.

Still it gave us a glimpse of England under Redknapp when he mixes it with the big boys...

jenas seems to be getting the blame in the article for not stopping ade. Was lennon supposed to be marking him then? Couldn't see that working.

Nice result, just pity they can now concentrate on the league

That's true.
We need results now.

Don't overlook the psychological impact of such a loss. It may seem nothing but it isn't, it will leave a trace in their egos and impact their confidence for the rest of the season. Especially if they are dealt another trouncing like that in the return leg.

Spot on.

I'm fucking delighted that they are more or less out of the competition.

Me too. And I hope they pick up some more injuries in the return leg at home. I bet Harry would love to just rest all his 1st Team Players and play the reserves... too bad the fans would murder him if he did.
