Gerrard out for the rest of the season,
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13009655.stmTorres officially the worst signing since....[strike]Shevchenko[/strike] Owen Hargreaves
Dont think we would ever have got Gerrard to be honest but given how we were linked with both of these, got to say bullets dodged there.

Re Torres, I am still stunned that ANY team thought he was worth what Chelsea paid, considering how shite he's become. He has shown ZERO effort or ability for well over a year. I honestly think he's over. Maybe he'll prove me wrong?

Whether or not he'll prove to be worth £50 Mil is open to debate. As for him being finished, that's just open to being called utter tripe.
A top player on a bad run. Chelsea are daft imo. They know what he needs to show his best yet refuse to play him in that system.

I would say its a bad run, but it has been over a year now. Even since he got injured he seems to have lost the sharpness, touch, and a bit of pace that made him special. I think the slump will continue for the rest of this season. If he can't find some confidence over the summer and return strong next season, he's finished.

The thing is, though, he's lost a good bit of the pace he used to have. He doesn't burst away from defenders anymore. He's had ample time to heal from any niggling injuries, so imo, he's unlikely to ever regain the pace he's lost. That said, his loss of touch on the ball is what is most baffling to me.
Edit: bigblue read my mind.

Torres genuinely suprised me when he joined the premier league by becoming such a goal scoring machine. From what I remember, he was pretty much a one-in-three striker before he came here.
I think he'll end up a 1 in 3 striker again. He had an excellent year and a half though.
I marvelled at his stats a couple of seasons ago. But Tevez' stats from last season were damn impressive and just looking at this season - premier league: 27 apps 19 goals 6 assists
Directly responsible for 25 goals in 27 appearances.
The contrast between both players' first year and a half in English football was stark and right now its just as stark only opposite ends of the spectrum.

Sounds like Dzeko.

Torres was played to death by Benitez and now it is showing, he simply I'd burnt out and injury prone. He will find form again but £50m is pathetic. Glad we missed out.
