M1 Closure 'FOR UPTO A WEEK'

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Can't see it being closed until tomorrow mate. And strangely, the Roman's built things called roads before these new-fangled motorway's came out. They even built them straight, not meandering through the wilds like us Brit's build them.

Svensational wrote:So you think just ordinary main roads will handle that traffic? Its gonna be busy regardless of any main road/motorway closures.

Its just a warning anyway to those who be going down there this evening.

Wasn't having a pop mate, just stating the obvious (plus a bit of Brit bashing of course). It's gonna be busy whichever way we look at it but I do think the M1 will be open well before that time.

Thanks for the update of course, much appreciated.

Won't it damage the tyres of the car?

Never bother with M1 anyway, shitiest Motorway known to man, garaunteed accident every time i have to go East Midlands or North East.

Whenever i travel back to Manc (or vise versa) M6 via Toll and on to the M40 is a much better route AND it is the most direct route to Wembley i.e. turns in to the A40 and simply turn left at Hanger Lane, left again at Ikea off the North Circular jobs a good-un.

Just watched this about the closure:
http://news.aol.co.uk/article/scrapyard ... /20110415/

Interesting bit is near the end when the reporter claims it could affect fans travelling for the "FA Cup Final" between City & Utd!

Feckin' ell, what a place to have a scrap yard, under a feckin' motorway. Cheers Gary, might change my plans and go down the 40 .......... with the Rags (shudders). I wonder how many of them will try and stone the car with our scarves flying loud and proud?

PS. You could've had a point Sven, cheers pal.

What all eight of 'em? ;-) Surely the M3 & M5 will be more choc-a-block with Rags!

M40 is comfortably a better route anyway. Add an hour to be sure as the traffic will be heavier, obviously.
