Tottenham want Manchester City's rearranged league match against Stoke brought forward by the Premier League.

The game was set for 14 May but with the pair meeting in the FA Cup final that day, it has been moved to 17 May.

A Stoke win or draw would help Spurs in their battle with Manchester City to qualify for the Champions League through their top-flight position.

But the Potters will qualify for Europe as FA Cup runners-up if Manchester City finish in the top four.

"I think they [the authorities] should look at it," said Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp.

"The chairman spoke to me last night about it. We feel it should be changed - but it's a bit out of my hands."

City are currently fourth in the league, one place and three points ahead of Spurs, though they have played a game more than the London club.

Tottenham have seven Premier League games remaining this season, starting with Wednesday night's clash against north London rivals Arsenal.

The sheer audacity of that allegation/inference is truly breathtaking.

Stoke must do something about this, the FA should be throwing the fucking book at Spurs for bringing the game into disrepute

I very much doubt that spurs would even officially ask the FA. They have got no chance, there is no precedent for it and I also would imagine Stoke would go ballistic at the implied reasoning.

Hopefully spurs will have already thrown their chances of getting 4th away by then anyway.

Will they also be asking that their game against Liverpool be moved forward?
They play 24 hours after the final. If we win the cup, the only realistic chance of Liverpool qualifying for Europe is if Spurs come 4th, we come 5th and then the final europa place goes to sixth in the league. On exactly their logic, thats a reason for Liverpool to throw the game to help them get 4th.

The only other available midweek date is May 4th, which would mean 3 games in 7 days: Sun-Wed-Sat.

Dodgy 'Arry's at it again.

If we win the FA Cup I've no doubt this will be in the back of the Stoke's team minds.

Won't be changed though.

Have you looked at the table? Stoke are 6 points above the bottom team. They could very much find themselves needing three points in their final game.

By merely saying what he has said and getting the media coverage that he has, Twitchy has done all that he intended to do. The statement raises the pressure on Stoke to come at us to ensure there are no accusations or insinuations of not trying.

Stoke won't bother complaining but Pullis and their club have been shoved up an alley by Twitchy.

What a moron. Seriously, why open his fat face and spout such shit? I hope Stoke kick off as he is insinuating that they may throw a football game?!? Who the fuck does this guy think he is.
I cannot wait to win the FA Cup (I hope) and qualify above this wanker to shut him up.

This is plain stupid from Arry. He got it the other way round.
If we played before the cup final, stoke might want to throw it away just in case, but if it is played after, there might be a chance they win the cup and play for the win after.
Not saying they'll win any, mind. It's all ours.

Precisely. He doesn't need to say anything again, knowing the press will do it for him. If what he's said, basically questioning Stoke's integrity isn't bringing the game into disrepute, I don't know what is. I hope Stoke roll over for us in the league game and then Pullis says 'Ave that , Arry' on MOTD.

Very true, its clever gamesmanship. Shame on the media for biting on it and making a story out of it.

I don't think it's particulary clever and the media are well aware of the game and happy to play...as ever. Nice angle for them.
