Writer's Player of the Year

Personally I don't think he's been that great, same as I didn't think Bale should've been anywhere near the PFA PotY. If he's been that good then why have West Ham been struggling all season? I think he's only got it because they haven't had the likes of Gerrard, Rooney et al to give it to.

Who's your stand-out player of the season?

Wake up >> sky on >> channel 405 >> HAHAHAHA FUCK OFF.

Pundits wanking over him like he actually deserves it. Apparently him and bale are the only i think it was "proper footballers" he said.

Kompany but I'm biased. Had prob two dodgy games all season. These awards are bollocks, Bale had two great games Vs Inter and then gets injured. No where near POS and if you ask Spuds fans they will agree, and tell ya Modric has been far better. As for Parker done well in a poor team that's about to drop. Not sure he would cut it at a better club with better players around him as has been proved at Chelsea.

I think its a great choice, i have watched him do for west ham what gerrard has often done for liverpool.

That's a lot of shite which doesn't stack up. By your logic Charlie Adam has also been average.

I think Parker is a fair choice in a season with no real stand out. I also agree that the hype over Bale is well off the mark. A couple of outstanding performances seem to have propelled him to world class status with some judges.

Can someone explain me why these awards are given before the end of the season? there's still an important chunk of it to be played after all.

Fuck me, didn't you get your blow-job this morning? As noted, it was a question as I've not seen much of his games, but if he's been the stand-out player of the season, out of all the league, why are the likes of Parker and Adam languishing at the bottom of the table? I'm not saying that they've not had stand-out seasons for their respective clubs, but are those 2 players the best the Prem has offered this season?

Comprende?

I don't follow your logic here.

It is testament to the efforts of Adam and Parker that their sides are not already long since through the trap-door. Why does it have to be the case that for a player to have an outstanding season, he has to play for a good club.

Thats the sort of big club bias we have all been complaining about for years.

My logic is quite simple and not at all 'Big Club' bias, as you might say. I'd personally go for a player who has proved invaluable to his club as well as being outstanding in the league, from what I've seen and from what I've read. And who said anything about having to be from a 'Big Club' as I'm sure I stated that their respective clubs were languishing at the bottom of the league, which is a hell of a difference.

Let's put this into perspective and look at other players who could, or should, have been up for one of these awards, in my opinion of course (apart from the 2 already mentioned):

Carlos Tevez - 19 goals and 6 assists, been instrumental to our season. Not on top form for the last few months but still kicks on regardless.

Vinny Kompany - Our player of the season for me, need I say more.

Luis Nani - 9 goals and a massive 19 assists, been instrumental to their season and keeps on producing the goods - Wanker!

Stewart Downing - 6 goals and 8 assists, played every game and has been a real dynamo for Villa.

And, probably my choice would be Kevin Nolan - 12 goals and a couple of assists, forces the play and having scored a quarter of their goals has lead Newcastle to sit comfortably in mid-table and a realistic chance of securing another year in the top flight.

Then you've got the likes of vdV, Nasri, Kuyt et al who could all be considered as well. So it's not just the club, for me it's all-round performance and how they lead the troops on the pitch.

So, what about yourself, is Parker your choice of player or is there someone else out there?

parker has been good however they still look like they are going down. cant be that good. theres a reason teams where they are in the table, they have better/worse players. not even my city bias detracts from saying kompany was the deserving winner. he has been amazing. other contenders for me are nasri, malouda, nolan and holden from bolton who since being injured their season has fallen apart

Not just for West Ham, he controlled the midfield in England's friendly recently. We played better as a team with him in it. He and Wilshere have been more or less our only midfield options for playing a 4-3-3 successfully.

Talking about "all-round performance and how they lead the troops on the pitch" & then picking Downing ahead of Parker is a bit... weird.

As I see it, there wasn't one outstanding player head & shoulders above the rest. I think Parker is a fine choice.

West Ham would be completely fucked if it weren't for Parker, he's seems like the only one who could really gee them up seeing as Avram Grant has all the personality of a damp grey sock.

I should give up here, but I won't. Who said I picked Downing over Parker, I thought I was comparing players who could've been in the mix?

And, I have no problems at all with Parker and think he has had a decent season, but that isn't the question is it. If you all feel that Scotty Parker is the Player of the Season then fair enough, but personally, I think you're bonkers. And if you want to make a point on it, tell us what he's done to get such an allocade. Tell us how well he's lead his team to, where is it, 2nd bottom of the league? Tell us his assist rates, tell us his scoring rate. If you're going to throw it in the mix at least tell us why!

There's nothing snide about it. You made a nonsense comment based on a nonsense theory and have managed to rubbish the theory and contradict yourself on the same thread.

Player of the season should of been Nani, Nolan or Adam in my opinion
