What do you reckon of the job he has done so far?

Started off erm.......'interestingly'...Very naive. He brought an American 'i'll shout louder than you' approach to the PR side of things, which he quickly realised just doesn't work over here.

After that I genuinely think he's been absolutely fantastic. The club's worldwide presence has rocketed, and our income has actually doubled - we've had one of the greatest leaps up the world's rich lists as a club ever. He is very much involved in this. I do believe to he gives a fuck about the fans. He's changed so many things and brought in some brilliant initiatives (City square for example).

Absolutely fantastic, I think he is a snake-oil merchant of the highest order, but he's OUR snake-oil merchant and there can be no doubt he has the best interests of City at heart.

He's done a decent job and has thankfully learned to operate in the background and keep his trap shut.

The shameful handling of the Hughes sacking a stand out low for me with the club's handling of the Tevez (Jorabchian) situation in Jan a stand out high.

I would never ever trust this guy as he epitomises corporate suit. He is not a football man. But like I said back then, perhaps that's what we have been lacking all these years. Business nous and somke sneaky little shit who knows how to brown nose right people.

So, he is doing his job.

I thought he was just what the club needed. Smart move by Thaksin, IMO. The arabs are no mugs and they also saw what Cookie could bring to the club. If you're going to try to compete in the global market, you need people like him steering the ship.

Also, everyone who's met him seems to think the sun shines out of his arse.

I love the frequency with which the "corporate suit" gets short shrift from a number of our membership! I would honestly love to see the clusterfuck we'd be living in (not just City but the wider world) if some of those who harp on about "suits" were running things!

Anyhow, I digress.

From Day 1 I liked Cook. I thought he had the right stuff and actually echoing what Antti says, he is exactly what this club needed. We'd had two real football men recently. One had done a terrible job and the other made some progress but was undone by being too much of a football man and going along with Kamikaze Keegan's approach to financial management.

Sure Cook does have a massive advantage in terms of the finances and general owner support he has behind him but I think he's doing an excellent job.

I think the fact that he and Marwood are aligned and the fact that they both clearly behind Mancini and, most importantly, are comfortable that he can/will work in the intended management set-up means that he can happily stay out of football matters these days in the confidence that Mancini will stay on message, Marwood can back him up, all of our "big talk" has been done previously and that these days we are, happily, making the most important statements on the pitch.

I love some of the initiatives the club has pursued since the Sheikh took over and, like him or loathe him, lots and lots of those scream of Cook's influence and direction.

He's doing a splendid job

Well not all the people who have high ranking job are "corporate suits". It's more of a state of mind really. You might be shift manager in McDonald's and have that "corporaqte suit" attitude or you could be running global business and still be down to earth.

You also forget that I myself make decisions worth millions over a course of year and there are bunch of people who might well see me as some sort of suit. I highly doubt it though..... since I refuse to actually wear a full suit in anything else than weddings and funerals.

No, that's just the point, I'm fully aware of what you do. That's why it makes me laugh when you use it, inherently viewing yourself as being capable of being "down to earth" and other people as being "suits".

I do, for the record, get what you mean and the point you are trying to make but I suspect that those who you would often view as "suits" just means different to you. Sure some of them will be the kind of people you are referring to but honestly I work with hundreds/thousands of "proper suits" per your definition and I'd say that over 90-95% of them are properly down to earth people. I have only come across a tiny proportion of the kind of cunts you seem to think are out there in corporate world (and that's across all the financial/legal professions/bankers etc)

What I would grant you is that I know lots of people who are capable of being properly hard-nosed cunts at work....to do their job well. But that doesn't define them as people as the majority of them leave that persona at work when they go home. I know that I do.

Footballing jobs, even at a corp level...are NOT the kinds of gigs that are huge corporate "suit" jobs. I'm sorry Antti but you can try and make him out to be something he's not all day long, but it doesn't fly with me. He's way more guttersnipe than suit. I promise you. This is football. It's like a step above running the Spearmint Rhino, but not two steps above it. And yes it's big business in a certain context, but so are a lot of companies.

Think about this..MCFC as a business it probably a fuck of a lot smaller than the companies that many of us actually work for, or have worked for in our careers.

WRT the OP -- about how Cook is doing -- i'd echo other thoughts on how he's a solid, professional building a strong story for our football club. Then again i am a huge Cookie Licker, and always have been. Even when he called Milan "bottlers" cuz he was right and they were.

Also, Billy Walsh.

I was under the impression that he was a city fan.

Cook has been quiet of late. By his standards.

My family and I were out and about today. I didn't see a single rag shirt. However, I did see the obligatory Scouserpool shirt. And then I saw it. Our away kit. I've never really appreciated what a great shirt it is until today.

For this I blame and thank Cooky.

oh, and Marwood is still a cunt for not signing me.

that's a complex question -- were we to cast Entourage from mcf.net...hmmm...let me ponder that, but my initial feedback is that Bingo is Ari's gay Asian assistant Lloyd.
