I havent had chance to spend much time on here recently and thus am out the loop. I did do a search for this but didn't come up with much. Anyway, whats the latest on Toure and his ban? I haven't heard anything since we were waiting for his sample "b".

You're not alone, I was having the same conversation with my dad over the weekend. Really not sure why a decision hasn't been made and released one way or the other, although one of the Sundays' said that we would be in for Gary Cahill in the summer as a direct replacement for Kolo if his 2 year ban is confirmed ?!

There's no automatic two year ban but even a one year ban would be pretty devastating at his age. The last I heard there was a question of testing his B sample ( which nearly always matches the A sample). Then his case would be heard and then no doubt an appeal. It's amazing how quiet it's gone. I think there's a fair chance he's played his last match for City in which case we'll be in for another centre back I imagine. We'll have to handle it carefully bearing in mind Yaya's feelings though.

I've always quite fancied us having a go for Brede Hangeland but maybe a better bet is Phil Jones of Blackburn. Young and bags of promise. Just up our street I would have thought. My only doubt is that he's only 5' 11'' according to Wikipedia. We do seem to lack a commanding aerial presence and he may not fit that bill.

Having watched the Hammers match again, we need that towering defender

Jones will end up a midfield i believe.I think he and wilshere could well be the National central partnershp.

Just as an aside, it beggars belief that Kolo could face a two-year ban for a basically innocent mistake, while cheating cunts like Alves and Busquets go completely unpunished for blatant diving and play-acting. Disgusting.

Whilst I agree with your comments about diving and play-acting, at the end of the day, Kolo fucked up and has to face the consequences. There is a clear list of substances that footballers cannot take or come into contact with. Kolo would have known this and should have checked before taking any substances.

I'm assuming he's still being paid by the club at the moment, but if he's found guilty of taking a banned substance and subsequently suspended then the club are entitled to demand compensation from him (considering we paid £16m for him) and take back any pay since he was first suspended. It might sound harsh but it's Kolo's fault this has happened and he should pay the consequences. That is pretty much what would happen in any other industry. I don't like the idea of doing that at all, but I don't see why we should keep paying him his huge salary when he's got himself into a situation where he cannot play for us.

The only way it wouldn't be Kolo's fault is if he DID check with the club first and they gave him clearance to take this diet pill. However, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Kolo was an idiot for taking anything and will be well aware that you always check before you take anything. Even at the level I play at they issue you with a credit card size card with the website that you can check anything on prior to taking. All you do it type in the name and it gives you a "yes or no", it really is that simple.

God we are not even allowed to drink Redbull so the thought of taking tablets fills me with worry. I don’t even take paracetamol anymore just in case.

Interesting comments, SoF. That does make it a bit harder to feel sorry for Kolo, although I still doubt he had any intent to cheat.
