1981 Starting 11 Profiles

Postby gary james » Thu May 05, 2011 4:04 pm

I meant to post this the other day but various reasons why I couldn't. If anyone would like to read about the 11 players who started the 1981 FAC final - I've written a profile on each player for the Manchester Evening News. They started to appear on Monday (Joe Corrigan) and one appears in each issue until the night before this year's final.

Today's is Nicky Reid - http://menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... nicky-reid

My facebook page carries links to the others (except Corrigan which hasn't appeared online yet) - http://www.facebook.com/GaryJames4

If these articles go down well it's possible the MEN may ask me to write more features during the summer, so if you like them leave a comment on the MEN site. It all helps. Thanks.

Smashing job as always. Having you post every now and then is just amazing.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Thanks. I don't get much chance and should really be concentrating on writing (books/articles) but I do check most forums every day. It helps me make sure that I'm in touch with a wider group of fans (and that helps get the tone right in my writing I hope) than just those close to me.

I can't post as often as I'd like (I'd never be off the sites!) but if I've got something that I think people on mancityfans might like I get it posted. Hope that's okay.

Cheers - and thanks to everyone who buys my books/reads my articles.

Great. The articles are in the printed Manchester Evening News each day, and tend to appear online in the afternoon. Thanks.

I've been reading them. Very insightful. I had forgotten about the grief Paul Power suffered from the city fans.

Thanks for the positive comments. Not all of the articles have appeared online for some reason - I've asked the MEN to look into it.

Today's final feature is Kevin Reeves.

Tomorrow's MEN will carry a 50 question quiz I've compiled on City. Some answers are easy but others are quite obscure. Worth having a look though.

Also, I've written a piece on the City-Stoke game of 1934 (84,569 crowd) for the FA Cup final programme.

Links to the 1981 profiles and some of my other stuff appears on my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/GaryJames4

A final note on the 1981 FA Cup starting 11 profiles I did for the Manchester Evening News.

I know a few people wanted to see these but that they didn't all appear on the MEN website.

I've now placed images of 10 of the 11 articles (plus images of the article on 1934 City-Stoke record crowd & a City Quiz I did) at my website: www.facebook.com/garyjames4

or http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 9818652815

The only missing article was the Tommy Caton one, but an online version of that has appeared on the MEN's site.

Hope this helps anyone interested. Thanks.
