we dont like it up us

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

we dont like it up us

Postby yorkieblue » Sun May 08, 2011 10:37 am

ive noticed that teams that go for us and play fast pressing rough footy like your Stokes, Wolves and 2nd half yesterday Everton we really dont like it Too many players go missing when it gets tough and i think Pulis knows this and why next week at Wembley will be a physical game if we stand up to them and not wimp away.

The good thing about Wembley is the size (and width) of the pitch, it plays to our advantage.

Yep completely agree, we did this to an extent at the start of the second half yesterday, even after Moyes had had the chance to wind them up.

i'm sure i read somewhere that our pitch is bigger?

still, we've not done too badly at home.

You bet your left bollock Stoke will absolutely flood the box with crosses at every opportunity as we are inept at dealing with them.

Maine Road/Coms are the largest pitches. The old Wembley pitch was bigger however the current one is 115 x 75 yards which makes it 1 x 2 yards smaller than the current pitch at CoMS ..... FACTfans

compared to Stoke's, I dont know how big theirs is but I would guess it's narrower than ours at least.

ten per cent narrower so statistically significant if those figures are anything other than nonsense. I assume the league has minimum requirements as well as maximum.

stoke are a bloody good team that can actually mix it up. if their a-game (flooding the opposition penalty area) isn't working they can let the strikers sit back and become playmakers for the wingers (hence the last 15 mins at the britannia when they played us earlier this season).

original post certainly has a point about us not liking it up us. second half yesterday you'd have thought your zabaleta's and de jongs would have thrived but for some reason they struggled. this baffles me. i think stoke will be too pumped up and pick up bookings all over the place first half next week.

Wembley is : 115 yards (105 m) long by 75 yards (69 m) wide - slightly narrower than the old Wembley.

According to the BBC a football pitch can be as narrow as 50 yards:

Guess that explains all the local park pitches where the 18 yard line is only about 6 yards away from the corner flag.

These 5 are the ones that surprised me the most. I always thought Goodison is quite small ground, definitely thought Anfield would've been bigger.
I also thought St.James''s park was a lot bigger and same goes to WHL & reebok. other than that the list looked pretty much as expected

I think our problem is the same as Arse, no plan B. When plan A works we are awesome, if it doesn't, we can struggle
