“If I had a gun I would have shot them down” says Preston manager Phil Brown as rival Blackpool plane taunts relegation

Preston North End manager Phil Brown acted angrily stating “If I had a gun, I would have shot them down” after Blackpool fans sent a plane over Deedpale mocking Preston’s relegation.

Preston gave their trusty Deepdale fans something to smile about in their final game despite a dreadful season after goals from Nicholson, Hume and Proctor secured a 3 – 1 win.

The win meant North End did not finish bottom after leapfrogging Scunthorpe and Sheffield United into 22nd place.

But during the win against Watford, rival Blackpool fans sent a plane over the top of Deepdale mocking North End’s relegation to league one with a banner stating “We are superior love Blackpool FC".

Later in the match, the plane reappeared with another banner saying: “Poor little Preston enjoy League One.”

Preston North End manager Phil Brown reacted angrily, saying:

“If I had had a gun I would have shot them down.

"Arrest me now if you want. I found it very distasteful.

“Maybe I will be flying the Preston plane when it comes to the end of the season.”

I think one over WHL or Anfield with "Good Luck in the Europa League" would be more apt.

it's fucking ridiculous when a team like blackpool who are in the thick of a relegation battle are doing things like that. can't people concentrate on their own teams? that said there's an awful lot of city fans who talk about nothing else other than man united so I guess not.

It's a snide trick, and a pretty funny one. We've had different planes flying over derby games with messages from both sides in the past though, nothing new really. Just good to see that people are willing to take the piss that much that they will actually get together and sort summat like that out. As for Phil Brown, hahahaha. Looks like something out of It Ain't Half Hot Mum. Total Nob.

True - I wish I found shit things as funny as you do.

Banter is funny - and necessary - but why do it now? It would've made more sense to gloat about their promotion last season to be honest. There's tempting fate and then there's setting yourselves up for a huge fall.

They'll look like total pricks if (when) they themselves get relegated in a fortnight. THAT is going to be funnier.

The plane thing would've been funny if Blackpool weren't in the shit themselves. Just setting themselves up for a massive fall (and if they go down, I don't see them coming back up).
