is it just me or is he slow? on several occasions now i've seen him out 'sprinted' by players who i would have put money on being slower than him....

He isn't quick. For him to be effective it has to be in the last third where his quick feet and skill can get him the yard he needs to get past defenders.Any further back and they can usually get back to him.

He's not good enough, simple as that, good impact player to bring on for 20mins against tired legs, but i dont think he deserves to start. Certainly won;t feature if we sign the sort of players we hope too in the summer

Dunno about slow but more and more i'm questioning if he's cut out for playing at the level we are aiming for.
The past few games he has contributed very little, it's quite worrying, he is defo running the risk of getting the chop this summer imo.

He was shite last night..seemed timid going forward and offered fuck all defensive wise..don't know what's up with him..he was so cocky when he first arrived and brimming with confidence..willing to run at anyone
No idea where that spark has gone

He's been poor since he's come back from injury, not that he was having a blinding season before that. His best performances have come this season as an impact sub. He loses the ball almost every time he gets it.
I'm not sure what the best way is to an improvement out of him. He does have raw talent but I think his decision-making lets him down. He often crosses at the wrong time, or tries to take on an extra man when it isn't necessary.
He doesn't deserve to start in the final. I'd play Balotelli, Tevez and Silva as my front 3, or if Tevez isn't fit enough, I'd probably start Milner ahead of AJ. Milner isn't a winger, and has been excellent when playing a more central role for us, but he does contribute more in the games than AJ does. We would have AJ then as a great potential impact sub should we require him.

I thought he was 'taking one fror the team' by acting as a 2nd fullback, as per instruction. Worked very very hard imo. It's simple so far as I can see; he needs to learn to do what Giggs does when he gets into the same positions. If he does that, he'll be better than Giggs is now, if he doesn't he'll be a squad player then eventually sold when a younger, better, english player can be found to replace him in the squad.

An excellent squad player and starter against the lesser sides but too much of a luxury in games against sides we are evenly matched with. I still see a part for him but I think he'll be used predominantly as back up/rotation for Silva and a replacement right sided player next season.

Yep, and it seems like too often he's looking to reprise that spectacular goal he scored against Sunderland. Plus he's very poor defensively. His positioning and awareness when helping out in defence more often than not hinders rather than helps our defenders.
In marked contrast to David Silva who frequently showed he could mix it with the biggest close to our own corner flag last night.
Having said that we need to be sure this Sanchez is better, before offloading him to Bolton, or whoever.

He's a very good player with a good turn of pace. I don't think we have many players who are genuinely quick off the mark. Yaya, Balotelli, Kompany and Richards are fast when they get going and Tevez, Silva and Johnson have quick minds and quicker feet.
The thing that have improved markedly in the last 36 months is the technical ability of the team. We can actually hold onto the ball and dictate play for the first time in my lifetime (with the possible exception of 2001/2002).

Slow at sprinting - very fast at dribbling with the ball.
He's a good winger who shows intent on getting past and behind a defender - I think only him, Tevez and Yaya are players that take the opposition on whereas everyone else passes it and plays the safe option. He needs to improve his crossing but so do most wingers nowadays.
Very glad he is a part of our squad.

He's soft as shite, a 6 year old girl could bully him off the ball, he needs to stop being such a little fag when he's challenged and stand his ground.

Bobby don't like our players running down the wings, he prefers one touch football, this is why AJ and SWP don't shine in our team any longer

He's a great asset to have in this team. He hasn't been quite the same since his injury but he will come good again, just watch him dribble a peno for us on Saturday!
He does face a challenge soon though as I am certain we will sign a new winger. will be interesting to see his response to that

I tend to agree more with the people who arent impressed with him. I remember 6 months ago when everyone was blowing smoke up his arse and i was thinking what alot of people are thinking now.
The simple fact is...he is pretty slow and what Doug says about him having to be in the final 3rd to be a threat is absolutely spot on. Playing the ball over the top to him on the half way line will never work cos most (in most i mean 9/10) defenders will catch him easily.
The plus side he has excellent feet BUT....
2 more negatives are that hes very lightweight and never seems up for it in the big games or away from home at the Everton and Stokes etc of the league.
I wouldnt be too bothered if we got rid in the summer and got a pacey winger who i believe will add another dimension to our play as we dont have ANY really quick players like a Lennon, Nani etc. If we had a quick top quality winger for when we are running out of ideas attacking wise...we'd be awesome!
Im not denying Adam Johnson is a very good player, just that maybe he isnt to the standard we are heading :-/ and i dont think he will EVER be happy with being a bit part player. Cant remember who we played not so long ago and he was being subbed and he was shaking his head as though he was pissed off...i wouldnt mind but he had been shocking, really pissed me off that at the time, made me think he is getting a little like Micah got when he first came onto the seen,A BIG HEAD. He was pretty shit after that for a season or two but now the beast is back...Micah of late/this season had been tremendous!!!! Lets hope the same happens to AJ if he stays!

Amazing stuff, 95% of people on here were screaming out for him to be played not long ago ... money is ruining some fans I reckon
