Jerome Boateng to Bayern Munich?

Postby 1950 » Mon May 16, 2011 11:42 am

On the right track are the negotiations with England and Jerome Boateng freshly baked champions Manchester City. Rummenigge know of his colleagues peer-City Garry Cook, the British are ready to talk. The Munich but want to pay, according to sports director Christian Nerlinger "significantly less" than the twelve million euros, which took home the Hamburger SV in the previous year for the central defender. Boateng with the Bavarians have long since agreed on a four-year contract.

Google translated.

I reckon there might be something to this.

JB was a notable absence from Wembley after party. Not really fit the mould for us this season.

He could well be off imo.

I think he's potentially a top-class centre-half and possibly even a long-term partner for Kompany. Potentially.

I'm sure I saw him with a what looked like a pair of NHS glasses on, jumping about clebrating.

Have to say I'm not fussed either way. He hasn't impressed me this season but he was excellent in the world cup so perhaps there's something there. Bobby speaks very highly of him whenever the subject comes up so it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Wouldn't care too much TBH.

Micah and Zabba have raised their game so much this year that I'm happy for those two to continue being our right-back team.

Agree about the RB area, but if he left & Kolo got banned, Boyata would be the only CB left on the bench.

Did they have sticking plaster on one end?

Just to remind that Boateng played through the world cup at left back and may have taken on this role here if he's stayed fit. I know he's been injured but if either Kompany or Lescott had been injured in the last 2 months we'd have been royally fucked.

So I reckon Boateng has his chance next season AND we get a decent LB.

I'd keep him as I think he has potential as a centre half.

Lets be realistic here, he's in the German national squad, played as a regular at the last world cup and has Bayern Munich after him - this surely is a decent insight into his potential. Id be sorry to see him go as at his age, to borrow an americanism, he has upside.

here's the thing for me in hindsight about the WC...he looked good, and i was an advocate, but for me i'm half convinced now that we just saw a guy getting lucky with a few matches vs. wildly underprepared opposition who had a whole lot to think about other than how to attack a German CB surprisingly, perhaps to some i guess, playing as a left back, know what i mean?

comparing even a mediocre club football side's ability to plan, and exploit weaknesses vs an International team's time and ability to prepare for the same is nonsensical really. As a result, your average prem sides made him look unspectacular without a lot of effort it seemed. Right?

Jerome has a long road to walk in my eyes to show us he can make a difference.

cheers

He only played 16 matches or so... would be gutted if he is already sold, I reckon he will be World Class, just needs time to bed in. Remember when Evra was absolute shit for United?

How much of a hammering did Lescott get on here and other sites in his first few months?

The guy has been unlucky with his injury, but I suppose it could be that he actually wants to leave because he hasn't settled in England?

I must say it is a bit strange that he does not appear in any of the Videos on the OS regarding the FA Cup or anything.

Would like another season out of both him and Kol. Mad Zab wasn't the best in his first season either. Same with Nige. I think we should judge them at the end of next season because then there can be no excuses.

I think hes worth another season unless Bayern come in with silly money, which I doubt. I see him as a pure defender, when hes full back he has to think a bit and i dont think thats his forte, same as Lescott.

The biggest german Footabll mag "Kicker" is quite confident that he is going to Bayern but why did we buy him anyway? He is a centre half was played out of position even in german team at the world cup. Was he bought as CH ? lost the plot
