To say that Gareth Barry is a "chess type player" is a simplistic affront to the game of chess itself, which is far more intricate and complicated. It's obviously the comment of an ignoramus.

Gareth Barry's forte is the apparent simplicity of his play which, if translated to the sixty four squares, would never win anything.

Tough call for player of the season, but not Barry. My vote would probably go to Kompany for what it's worth, which is nothing as it happens.

No end game and if you think different you would be a fool mate.

Whilst I think the OP may be a wee bit wide of the mark I believe you also are missing his point, Milner may be better going forward but primarily that's not Gaz Baz's raison d'etre. He's there to keep things tight with the Pitbull, to make it doubly difficult for teams to play through us. Also - not sure if its true but gonna go with it - if the Opta stats validate that we are a better team with him in then so be it, who's to disagree with facts?

I hope that's tonque in cheek mate. Opta stats are so often so wide of what really happens in pitch it's ridiculous.

Nowhere near poty but much much better than half the fans give him (lack of) credit for. That's why Bob picks him.

The public hanging he got for being outpaced by Ozil in the WCup is typical; you can't do anything about a lack of pace but there were nine other cunts who didn't have the brains to realise we could even have a problem. Just Barry, on his own. He puts out fires whilst many others don't even smell the smoke.

*nods* Agree with both statements, I feel much better when he's in the team than out. Time will come when his speed will be a determining factor for selection but while his brain creates that extra yard and continues to see danger before it transpires then he's still well good enough for me.

I have read a stat somewhere which confirms that Gareth is the slowest player at Man City but not the prem.He is marginally faster than Essien.Overall there are five outfield players in the prem slower than him.
He is also the hardest working member of the team if running is to be used as the measure covering 7.92 averagly a game.
Thanks Joey is the only one ahead of him on 8.02.

Jo should get player of the season - for teaching Tevez how to dance through defences.
