Yes it was 30 years to the day that we lost to Spurs in the FA Cup final replay of 1981,for us to win with class the 2011 FA Cup final was to those of us who were there in 81 a cathartic experience.

Cathartic is certainly an excellent way to describe events....and we did win it with class, didn't we; which I would think is a great source of pride for the club, as well as the fans.

As an aside and whilst mentally noodling, the other day, I thought back to the '69 final which we won 1-0 with a left footed shot. In 2011, we won by the same scoreline and a left footed shot; which is all very boring and proves nothing, but it's the kind of thing which pops into your mind when you go on a mentally noodling expedition.......

City got relegated on 14/05/1983, my sister's wedding day. She rang me last Thursday to point out it was her anniversary on Cup final Day. There is a certain karma/equilibrium thingy in that I think.
Oh and as an aside, I was at Maine Rd that day rather than her reception. Ooops.

I still shudder at the memory of big fat Pleat, belly bouncing his way across the pitch at the final whistle.....Uuuuugggghhhh
