Andy Cole says we're not good enough

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole feels that Manchester City are not quite good enough to win a Premier League title.

The 39-year old, who won five titles at Old Trafford, believes that the style of football played under Roberto Mancini will not cut it although he does predict that the Citizens will surely be up and around the mark for years to come.

"They'll be up there, but challenging realistically to win it playing the way they do?" said Cole. "I don't think the Premier League can be won the way they play football.

"You can't go to the Emirates, come away with a draw, and think that's a good result.

"Manchester United can't come to Eastlands with you sitting back and being delighted with a draw when you're the home team.

"We're totally different to the Italian league. Here, you must score goals, people want to be on the edge of their seats.

"The Barclays Premier League is the most exciting league in the world and goals are what it's about. Mancini's Italian and you can't see him changing his mindset.

"They wanted to finish in the Champions league spots this season, fair enough. But if they're saying they want to win the Premier league...playing like that?!

"Let's be brutally honest, I don't think any team can win the Premier league playing like that."

'City have the resources to buy players other clubs can only dream of, but buying them doesn’t guarantee success,' he said. 'It takes time. They’ll be up there next season, but winning the Premier league next season? I don’t see it.

'There are teams who are more advanced than they are and who are better equipped to win the Premier League.

'City are lacking in experience, team spirit and guidance. Look at Carlos Tevez. One day Mancini says Tevez is going to stay, then Tevez says a day later "I’m leaving".

'There’s something going on there and you don’t know who’s stoking the fire. They need more guidance, more camaraderie and players who show desire and want to win as a team, not as individuals.'

Just being a scum sycophant. If he had said that after the home match against them, I would have conceded the point, I think we all felt that at the time.
We've moved on hugely since then, his views haven't.
In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he made those comments earlier in the season, and they've been rehashed.

The side who won the league didn't even get a point at the Emirates, you think they'd have taken a point?

I wonder if he was happy with that?

Cole's just another trying to make a few quid from blowing Taggart's trumpet. We've heard those lines from every Rag twat so this is no surprise, just like that other fucktard Yorke, who wouldn't see the City train coming 'til he's planted firmly like a fly on the window staring into the whites of Mancini's eye's.

City ought to take out a Super Injunction against peddling such tripe......or are Super Injunctions only allowed if you're a Manure footballer ??

TBH I think his comments are exactly what we need. It's vitriol like that which will bond our players and tighten their resolve so as long as we as fans can look at it in that light then bring it on. We are going to have to get used to an intensification of this hate as the closer we get to 'the title' the more aggressive and deranged it will become.

Bring it on I say

They only managed 5 away wins all season. Don't know at which grounds but they were probably at the teams trying to avoid relegation.

Regardless of the fact that Cole is a rag, etc., fact is that City have a poor record against the other teams near the top. Sometime during the season Mancini said you can win the league by drawing with the big teams and beating the smaller ones. Don't agree, and don't much care for his view that 1-0 is the score he likes best, either. (I know, he just won the Cup for City and I only watched.)

I said at the time that against teams outside of the top 6 we should go to win. Against teams like Arsenal who at the time I think were 3 or 4 points ahead of us, we had to make sure we didnt lose first and foremost to prevent them stretching their lead to what could appear to be an insurmountable gap.

Given that the point we gained at the Emirates, meant that we did not lose 3, come this time tomorrow we will soon see whether Mancini's approach was right or wrong.

Once we have the sort of experience the rags have gained over the years in those pressure situations, maybe we could go there and lose too ;0)

Mr Mancini is building he knows it cant all be done at once next season he will add more to the team however this season he has been very smart by utilising what he has at his disposal to get the best result he felt we could achieve at the time, would you rather attack a team like Arse n lose 3-1 or do what he sent our boys out to do n come away witha draw and end up finishing third? Now we are in the CL the door has opened to the players he wants to take the next step in his master plan. And I believe he is very clever in how he plays the media dont always take everything he says at face value stop and think, Bobby is very very cunning next season with the next piece in place you will see more in the games against the top teams, look how he played the semi, it was a one off game winner takes all, as was the final when he changed the formation to go for the win, in my mind he is very cool under pressure and very tactically astute

After going 15+years being refered to as 'Andy' isn't this the gimp who then asked to be refered to by his proper name of Andrew because his mum was getting upset?
