I've seen this a bit in the last few days, so this Marca article is born of other more creditable sources. It seems we are 'giving' Ade to Real for about €5M, to get him off the books. The only downside for the player is that he'll have to muddle by on half the pay. But fair play to him if he does that, rather than see out his contract like a lot of greedy players.

City would accept a situation to more or less give Adebayor as a present. Despite the fact that the buying option for the Togolese was €17M, the English club is thinking about asking less than half that for Manolito, between 5 and 7 million, so that the African can continue his career in Madrid.

Manager Roberto Mancini doesn't want to have to see Adebayor in his dressing room again. His spell with City didn't end too well, including coming to blows with Kolo Touré. The discontent with Adebayor at City is obvious. Besides, City would save €42M merely on him signing for Real, he gets €14M gross and has 3 years left on his contract, so City would save that amount. Reason enough to gift the Togolese.

Apart from the important economic discount, there are 2 motives why Real should re-sign him. The first is that Mourinho is pressing for it. The Portuguese considers the forward to be different to any other forward he has, a tall target man, ideal for an aerial game and to tie up centre backs, but not without speed and mobility. And the second, what he has done to the dressing room in scarcely 4 months. He's connected greatly with Tranny and his happy character is contagious.

The only drawback is that Adebayor would only get half of the salary he gets in Manchester. From the 7 million net he gets now to the 3.5 which Madrid would offer him, because in the Concha Espina ([i]the address of the Bernabeu) they would like to place him in the 3rd salary scale, that of Higuaín, Pepe, Ramos or Lass.

Madrid is counting on the fact that Ade is desperate to stay, besides which the player has declared that he would be disposed to lose money to extend his stay at the whites. It seems that the future of Adebayor, once already discounted by Madrid, could once again be painted white.[/i]

Considera el luso que es el delantero más distinto de todos los que tiene, un 9 alto, ideal para el juego aéreo y para fijar las defensas, pero no exento de movilidad y rapidez. Y el segundo, que se ha hecho con el vestuario en apenas cuatro meses. Ha conectado de cine con Cristiano y su carácter alegre es contagioso.

Con la mitad de sueldo
El único inconveniente es que Adebayor pasaría a cobrar menos de la mitad de lo que percibía en Manchester. De los 7 millones netos que ingresa ahora a los 3,5 que le ofrecería el Madrid, porque en Concha Espina se quiere colocar a Adebayor en el tercer escalón salarial, el de Higuaín, Pepe, Ramos o Lass.

El Madrid cuenta con la baza de que Adebayor está loco por quedarse, además de que el propio jugador ha declarado que estaría dispuesto a perder dinero para prolongar su vínculo con el club blanco. Parece que el futuro de Adebayor, una vez que ya había sido descartado por el Real Madrid, puede volver a pintar de blanco

i think there were a lot of unfortunate circumstances with Ade at City ... although he got off to an amazing start. The situation wasn't helped by his perceived laziness, though I don't think he actually was lazy.

Hope he does well for madrid, and keeps his mouth shut about city. saving 42 mil over 3 years must look very attractive to owners trying to bring the squad somewhat in line with FFP

If this is true, then surely they won't also be signing Tevez ? If he wants to go, where does he go ? Seems it would have to be Inter or nowhere & they can't afford him unless it's a swap deal.

Usually when player starts talking like that, it's downhill and fast after that. Adebayor was hardly the most high effort player even before the incident.

People seem to be going on about Ade but apart from that hat trick against Almeria, he wasn't very impressive for them. Fact is that he played 22 league games this season for two different teams and scored 6 goals with 3 of them coming against absolutely shocking bottom of the table Almeria side. Those are the facts. Rest is just what could've been talk with little basis on reality.

That's not saying they won't end up better than him, I think they will, but right now they're not. Not at all. Imo his performances this season for City have also been better on the whole than theirs. One of the only forwards to score a header for instance. He was always a transitional player who was designed to get us from A to B, & doomed to be sold when we could attract better but imo, this season both he & Bellamy could & should have been used regularly by City. Our biggest time of struggle is being put down to the squad being too small & players being tired.

We may have achieved even better than we have & perhaps something truly spectacular had those two had been used when needed.

There it is again. Infamous Jo card. Could we please at least try to pretend that Jo is no substitute to anyone and will not ever feature for us again. I repeat what I said few days back, I'll rather have my nana on her wheel chair there than Jo. And I'm not even fucking kidding.

Besides, since we let Adebayor go to Real Jo hasn't really featured at all.

I don't think we realised what we could be capable of until it was too late to change plans.

I've noticed a number of times on here members bemoaning the fact that Ade and Bellamy were moved on. I agree with those saying that both of these players are better than some we have got in the squad at the moment based on pure footballing ability. However when you're building a team( or a squad that is more pertinent nowadays ) it is important to have the right personalities in the mix to create that all important team spirit.

In my opinion Mancini has done a brilliant job of getting this group of individuals playing as a team, in light of this I feel he made the right call as far as Bellers and Ade are concerned. Both of these players obviously rubbed Mancini up the wrong way and there are examples that we are privvy to ( thanks to both of these players telling the press about them ) that suggest that both players have at one stage or another undermined Mancini's authority. When trying to create the right mentality within a dressing room it is of paramount importance that all players are singing from the same hymn sheet and that no one is undermining what the management is trying to do.

I can see wher you're coming from but Bellamy already fit in with the team on the pitch before Bob arrived & did it better than Balotelli or Dzeko do. Also the biggest challenges to Bob's authority were and still are Tevez & Balotelli. The fact that he was & still is, willing to bend over backwards to accomodate them makes a nonsense of any disciplinary reasons for dumping Ade or Bellers imo. They may cause the occasional spat but nothing like Tevez & Balotelli do.

It was a gigantic mistake imo & if it wasn't for the fact that Bellamy has probably lost his edge by playing down there, he would be the ideal player for next season; impact sub, replacement for tired players in several positions, no transfer fee going on the books etc etc. Ade could have got us a few more goals last season too I recon.

Adebayor is twice the player Dzeko is. Yet we're selling him for a 5th of the price we bought Dzeko.

it's depressing me this morning tbh. i love Ade...i know i'm in a minority, but i don't care. i think he could have done so much more as a partner for Tevez than Jayko will ever do. Balotelli is a different class of player to nearly anyone at some level, so i imagine that's Mancini's thinking, but Ade had elements of his game that would have made him a great complement to Tevez, Balo and Jayko. I'd love all four of them at the club right now together. There would be a lot of versatility in that group, but maybe Mancini wants someone with more pace, though i believe Adebayor is much faster than people think as well. I'll try and stop being an Ade-apologist, but it's hard.

No idea how credible this is, but we're basically in another transition phase right now - the first was from middle Prem to top four by use of mercs to get us there - now we're in a consolidation/push-on phase where we can think about challenging for the title, slowly shifting from mercs to established/rising talent that WANTS to be here. It's possible a few more could be practically given away over the summer.

I'm solidly in the pro Ade camp.

He doesn't strike me as someone you cannot get on baord if you actually want to. Bob needs to be careful IMO with his expensive "trades".

Milner + 18 mil for Ireland was terrible business.

Paying 50 for Mario and Dzeko combined and selling Ade for 5 would be disasterous business in my humble opinion.
