We are in it.

Not just the qualifying game where we could have fucked up; we are in it properly & will play some proper teams home & away, midweek, at a reasonable hour, rather than Slaartibartfast FC at midnight on a Thursday etc.

Just thought I'd mention it again in case it had started to wear off with all the cup celebrations.

P.S. How fucking good is that ?

Apparently in Pot 3 too.

If we get out of the group, it will represent progress. Win the homes, pick up a point away - 10 points and Bingo.

I think it's all down to this transfer window. If we get the right players in to solve our weaknesses & so the squad doesn't get stretched, we have a great chance against most teams anywhere over two legs.

Yea realistically I think getting through the groups should be a realistic TARGET , build up some experience, get known, atleast.

In the back of my mind I cant help thinking we are going to do a Spurs.

Will anyone be watching this season's Final on Saturday ??

I'm not watching it because I don't want to see all the fouling, cheating, diving, play acting and every refereeing decision violently disputed.....and Barcelona don't want to see all these either.

Apart from Shrek,Hernandez,Park,Nani they don't have divers do they?

I was told by a red the other day that the only way Barca will beat them is through their diving and cheating.Unbelievable.

Always wanted to go to Slaartibartfast FC, on a thursday night too! :-)

When it comes to who we'll play and I'm torn between wanting to win the whole fuclin thing and what will be the best piss up!

A group of Real Madrid, AC Milan, us and Dortmund would mean 6 epic european nights but probably shorten my life span.

or Porto, Villarreal, us and salzburg should see us through with games to go!

Knowing City we'll get the first group and win it!

Seedings as they stand are as follows:

POT ONE – qualified: Manchester United, Barcelona, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Porto, Inter Milan. Favourites to qualify: Bayern Munich, Arsenal.

POT TWO – qualified: AC Milan, Shakhtar Donetsk, Valencia, CSKA Moscow, Marseille. Favourites to qualify: Benfica, Villarreal, Dynamo Kiev or Lyon.

POT THREE – qualified: Zenit St Petersburg, Ajax, Bayer Leverkusen, Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, Manchester City. Favourites to qualify: Rangers, Copenhagen.

POT FOUR – qualified: Lille, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, Swiss champions, Otelul Galati. Favourites to qualify: BATE Borisov, Maccabi Haifa, Dinamo Zagreb or Salzburg

I fancy us to win it in our maiden season if we get the right 2/3 players in

And I'm being serious

Why would Dortmund and Lille be in pot 4?

No Idea, took it from the MEN article link at the top of the thread, surely being champions of germany and beating the filfth in 1997 should put you in pot one?

I've no idea. I've taken this from the link at the top of the thread.

I think its only the last 5 years in Europe that count.

I live in Wokingham - I have a BBQ organised on Saturday - during the day it will be for my daughter's birthday but into the evening the lads have reserved the big screen and beer fridge in the summerhouse for the game - 6 blues, 1 red scouse and 1 Reading - no scum. I have by MCFC Barcelona supporters club T-Shirt I bought a couple of years ago ready

Set up for a perfect evening so long as:

a) It does not rain or
b) the scum......no - cannot even contemplate it

Because they've been crap in Europe the last 5 years, there's no other explanation really.

Dortmund qualified twice for the EL. They didn't progress from their group the last time & the other they even failed to make the group.

Lille were much better tbf, but they're barely in pot 4 as it is. Only 7 points between them & us.

If even one of the seeded teams with higher coefficients (Bayern, Arsenal, Villareal, Benfica, Kiev, Lyon, Rangers, Copenhagen) gets knocked out in the qualifiers by an unseeded team with a lower coeff (all but 3 teams), they'll make pot 3.
