More unfounded FIFA allegations

I feel sorry for FIFA, the press have a real hatred for them and keep making scurrilous accusations. Last wek the BBC did a dreadful documentary accusing all and sundry of bribery and corruption, this week both candidates for presidency and the whiter than white Mr Warner has have been accused of offering cash incentives, it's fucling ridiculous.

These ambassadors at the top of footballs governing body work tirelessly, sometimes for hours at a time to make football more better. Bringing countries like Qatar into the fold With it's massive population of nearly a million and a half people is a stroke of genius. Qatar have too much money and quite like a bit of a kick about after drilling for oil, by taking some of their money, FIFA officials can now fly to more places and spread the word to other nations who should host the world cup, like Andorra or Greenland.

And don't even raise the nonsense about goal line gadgetry, when sep blather was young, football was a gentlemans game where honesty and integrity were the technology that mattered. Also the stuff available today is not supplied by any companies owned or represented by a FIFA member so it can't be trusted. They have also allegedly refused point blank to help with the associated costs of getting the FIFA boys together to make a decision, and Lear jets don't run on chip fat you know.

I think we should take a long hard look at what these guys bring to football and show them a little more respect, they know what they're doing and they know what's best, and the best costs money

Next week I will be doing an article on how the Italian prime minister is trying reenergise politics by touching the younger generation

Quite right.
These people are devote themselves to public duty, and this is the reward they get.
Very much like the venom heaped upon our MP's for claiming the cost of their selfless devotion to the electorate back.

An excellent post, balanced and completely free of opinion. Stick with the facts and you cant go wrong.

You did forget to mention what a wonderful job UEFA also do in reallocating revenue evenly between clubs to ensure that competition is always fair and each team has an equal chance of winning without the need for outrageous and costly investment by generous benefactors!

Edit: Oh aye. And the Eurovision song contest!

These guys need to reminerated properly. The damage caused to suits and the coat of replacing them by having their pockets mishapen from the size and weight of bungs must be astronomical. One can't expect these representative of World football to foot that bill personally....poor souls.

This is nonsense patrick, i know i'll get shot down by many for this but I think you're very naive to think that fifa operate for the benefit of anyone other than their individual members.

And you're very wrong about goal-line technology. One of the delegates: ngierof tempeh of indonesia does have majority shares in one of the suppliers, I understand they're just talking kickbacks now.

get a grip of your facts man.

Quite right Patrick, I wonder if ever before that hammer and nail have come together with such an amazingly insightful piece of written prose? I doubt it somehow.

Perhaps some other subjects for you to cut a swathe through the media bias?....

Osama bin Laden : Mistaken visionary or wrong place at the wrong time?

Vladimir Putin : Inspirational unifier of an open, democratic sleeping giant or selfless seeker of equal opportunities?

Sir Alex Ferguson : Cunt or cunt?

i just posted the same crap in that other FIFA thread -- mods, anyone? -- but i think that the Western World is bitter for losing to Qatar, and Russia when in fact we should have blown their asses out of the water.

Sure it's easy to talk about bungs when we just got punk'd like some two-bit bumbling second-rate criminal in a Guy Ritchie film, but the reality is we fucked it up. We need to take a good hard look at our process and our teams in the US and England and understand why we're such fuclin losers. i have a feeling 20 years ago some sonofabitch might have died/killed/crippled some fuclers to get those bids.

Broken Britain
Anemic America

wobble yr heads pussy boys

cheers

Sorry Patrick, didn't see this thread, but I wasn't looking to be honest ;-)

Mods, if you'll do the honours.

It's nothing to do with being bitter - it's KNOWING they're as bent as fucl and feeling powerless to do anything about it - it's why the English FA declared they would abstain from voting.

i dunno...a lot of people on this board have to sell or service customers for a living. When you lose, you lose and sometimes you'll never be able to win, but i honestly really don't think we fought as hard as we could to win these bids. i think we were arrogant in thinking that -- either in the case of the US and England respectively -- our market size and commercial appeal as well as the footballing history should be enough to help seal the deal given all the other componentry we put into place regarding stadia, financial appeal, etc.

The reality is we got outsold by up and comers who i'm sure took a no holds barred, steel cage match to the death approach and left no stone unturned and no enveloped unstuffed. Was it just a matter of the size of the wedge? i doubt it. in my business, like in yours i'm sure, you win sometimes when you are more expensive or when you have had issues that makes clients upset. You find ways to ensure that you build the relationships to win the deal. Clearly, we didn't do that.

I'm sure some fucktard voting needed to get their kid into Harvard or Cambridge in 10 years, or some housewife needed to start an international business focused on import/export of alpaca wool or green technology, etc, etc, etc...get creative and win some shit. We didn't. End of.

cheers

do you think my assessment of how this gets done is off base? what's so "american" about it, because clearly if i have a myopic "American" sense of this, then i surely cannot understand without some detail to your argument.

I actually think you're pretty spot on there Mike, I just don't think lots of people really understand how "business" works in terms of winning projects/building & maintaining relationships.

No disrespect to you Dameerto mate, I've no idea what you do for a living but what DM posted above, well I'm not American, and I understand and agree with everything he said.

Yes FIFA is bent as fuck but most business deals are often done on what is not a very level playing field. I know that often we are involved in pitching for business and we know that, even if we come in with something amazing that beats another proposal hands down on virtually every front, we will get stiffed as there is some kind of history/relationship between the client and our competitors (ex-colleagues, friends, whatever). It's not "fair" but it's understandable, and it goes on in every type of business for these or other reasons EVERYWHERE in the world. Sometimes it's more overtly corrupt oftentimes not.

To quote from JFK, if you don't know who the patsy is in these things, you're usually the patsy

The point is that FIFA is supposed to represent world football teams/countries. Instead it has become some vast corporate, dictatorial, corrupt monster.

The solution is to start again, scrap the lot and form a FIFA2, where a rep from each country meets up once a month for a chinwag -expenses only. They can have a secretary to take notes - job done.

There's a lot of truth in what you're saying but we're talking about sport here, not just business. There is a huge difference between FIFA and your average company. FIFA are a sporting body have an obligation to the sporting public. I understand how business deals are done in other spheres but in football, Qatar shouldn't be winning the rights to host a world cup and senior members of the organisation shouldn't be accepting carrier bags full of cash for their vote.

It stinks, they stink.

FIFA loves hosting the WC in nations without the proper infrastructure because they can weasel their way into the development contracts. A nation like England simply can't compete with Qatar, who will have tens of billions of mostly untraced money floating around to "prepare" for the games.
