What did the Wembley Final do for you?

Its been two weeks since that glorious Wembley visit for this seasons FA Cup Final.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on a ticket for the show-piece event of the season and had a day I will never forget.
However on the train ride home one thought kept on popping into my head.
And that thought was how much I have missed you fellow blues, the laughs the nerves the tears the euphoria, all shared and linked by a common love. Its been several years since I moved away from Manchester and although I do get up there infrequently for games, the cup final took me right back to my days on the Kippax and then the North stand back at Maine Road, away days in Oldham, Sheffield, Coventry and Wycombe (shudders) to name a few.
The day was made special from the moment I walked into the Grapes (pub near London Bridge) and the small band of blue brothers and sisters in there were asked not to sing, the photo's taken of a "special" pint of Guinness, the tube ride full of singing out to Wembley Park, some oldies came out especially songs about former players and then the atmosphere in the stadium itself.
It made me realise how much i missed being part of the family and I wanted to say thanks for making me feel like I had never been away.

That's quite a racy mini-monologue, John, but quite in keeping with your highly unusual style.
Please keep on making me chuckle, as always !!

How much would a new cat have cost?

I had to smile at that Michael...With so many nippers in your house, one more wouldn't have been noticeable would it?...:-)

My missus was at the hairdressers for the final. I watched it on TV at home with my youngest. I screamed the place down when we scored and dived on him and virtually squeezed the life out of him. Then sat there and talked to the television and coached the rest of the game applauding and damning all of our good and bad play. Then the final whistle went and I screamed like that bitch on the thriller video for five minutes... my eldest lad ran in and watched the celebrations (me and the television). Then I sat that there on the sofa and the tears rolled down my cheeks for a good 10 mins. My missus came home, walked in the door and shook her head at me saying "What the hell are you crying for you big baby, you didn't even get this emotional at the birth of your 3 kids". To which I replied, I have waited 35 years for this, if it took you 35 years to get pregnant and I had prayed for it to happen for as long as I could remember, then you might have seen a tear or two, now leave me alone and let me get on with it!
