Ex Players Now Doing Normal Jobs/Where Are They Now

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Ex Players Now Doing Normal Jobs/Where Are They Now

Postby King Kev » Sat May 28, 2011 3:43 pm

I doubt very much that any of our current players will have to do a normal job after leaving the game, so I found it interesting to hear what some of our old players are up to now;

David Bacuzzi
Travel agent in Dublin

David Baker
Set up a driving school in Surrey

Carl Bradshaw
Runs a B&B in Norwich

Tony Coleman
Works for Australian state railway

Gordon Davies
Working for Rentokil in Bedfordshire

Wyn Davies
Baker in Bolton

Harry Dowd
Works for JW Lees brewery

Ronnie Ekulund
CEO of a company who market fashionable nursing covers for breast feeding mothers!

Ivan Golac
Ran a chocolate factory in Belgrade for a number of years.

Gerry Gow

Works in the engineering trade in Dorset

Tony Grealish
Scrap metal merchant

Eike Immel
Appeared on the German version of 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me out Of Here' in 2008 (I know it's not a job but thought it was worth a mention!)

Ged Keegan
Works for a car parking comapny at Manchester airport.

Jamie Pollock
Director of a glass making company in Middlesbrough

David White
MD of a recycling company

Only really impressive post-football career I've ever heard of except those continuing within the game as pundits, coaches or whatever is a Norwegian keeper (used to be at Tottenham) called Espen Baardsen. He is now a very succesfull fund manager in London.

He retired young so pretty sure he has earned ways more as a fund manager than as a football player. He said in a interview once that when they did not practice and the other guys used to read comic books, party, watch TV etc. he used to read books about economics. Kind of reminds me of Kompany doing algebra on the train to Wembley.

Quote from wikipedia
He is currently a partner and fund manager for Eclectica Asset Management, a London-based asset management company. He is a frequent guest on the business television network, CNBC.

Niall Quinn...apparently invested in some sort of American Wild West Show...or was it a cowboy outfit?...he employs another ex player as an Elephant man impersonator.

Roy Keane has had a very successful career as a proffessional failure.

Where did you find those Kevin? Some really interesting career paths.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
