Bayern Munich seem to have hit a roadblock in their hunt for a new centre-back. Manchester City have reportedly put a €20 million price tag on the Bavarians' top choice, Jerome Boateng.

The Citizens have no intention of letting the 22-year-old go, and have placed a hefty price on his services to ward off interest, according to Sport Bild.

"We have big plans for Jerome. It is important that we not sell him," City director Mike Rigg recently said.

Bayern are not interested in spending such a high sum on the player, who struggled with injuries this year and only made 24 appearances in his first season at Eastlands. Instead, FC Hollywood will wait and hope to either sign the Germany international for a lesser price or find another option.

"The season has just ended. Across Europe, nothing much has happened. As expected, the big deals will be put on the table in June, July, and August," Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Bild. "This is a lot of money, so we must have patience.

Boateng only joined City from Hamburg one year ago, for a reported fee of €12.5m. Bayern believe his value has decreased to around €9m, but with the player under contract until 2015, City will have an advantage heading into negotiations.

MANCHESTER CITY and Wolves are the latest clubs to be linked with a move for Coventry City's wantaway goalkeeper Keiren Westwood.

The Republic of Ireland shot-stopper's contract at the Ricoh Arena will expire next month, allowing him to leave the Sky Blues on a Bosman free.

National reports have suggested that Sunderland are currently the front-runners for Westwood - having open negotiations with the former Carlisle United man last week.

However reports over the weekend suggested that both mega-rich Man City - who look certain to lose back-up keeper Shay Given this summer - and Wolves are also keen on Westwood.

Everton and Leicester City are also thought to be in the running for his signature.

There's less hurry now with confirmed CL. There's no need to have players settled for the play-off.

Guys are heading off on holidays, so it's not like they're missing anything. The squad is fairly settled at this point and doesn't need huge reinforcement, if our major targets aren't available (at the right price) then we can sit it all out and see what develops.

I thinki if our targets are young foreign players then we should get them wrapped up as early as possible so they have more time to prepare for life in england and get the moves sorted and them settled and in training rather than fucking about waiting until august to try and rush them all through and end up with a young, unsettled, unhappy kid in an unfamiliar town because it will reflect on the pitch.

why do you assume we're buying players who aren't already in the Prem? i'm not convinced of that just yet.

Purely because of the FFP rules. I dont think buying established prem players would sit well.

Also there havent really been many outstanding players in the prem this season and of the ones that have stood out who would you say is "available"?.

I also think we might have to take a hit on wages again to get the big name as we are still not in the footballing super-power league yet, just another step towards it. This may mean that we are going to be signing the not quite yet there player, ones who will take a punt and a step-up instead of the so called big names who will still want to keep the comfort blanket of staying at one of the recognised 'Big Clubs'.
