my boys are 4 and 5 they know who they support. probably becuase they have actually been to a game and the fact it is drilled into them that blue is the colour and red is bad.
my eldest has come from school saying bob/fletcher/harley are now city fans becuase he is....when he tells me this it honestly fills me up. my boy spreading his blueness at 5 years old in the middle of fucking swinton which as most of you will know is bandit country.
he alo told me last week he wants a tattoo like mine.....if it was legal he would be under the needle tomorrow

My son will be a year old on Sunday..my next son is due mid July

I find it sad they will never know the pain as well as the joy

It feels like the 30 years I've been watching this club has built up to this moment..our time..and I wouldn't change it for any of the rags success..it's made me what I am today

I love the City fans of old..our ability to laugh in the face of overwhelming adversity

I admit it hurts me when other fans say we havnt earnt it

If anyone deserves time in the sun it's us

The youngsters will never understand this

It's like we have been torch bearers..keeping the flame alive just enough for it to now turn into a blaze

We looked after the embers..they will take over the inferno

To be honest, it's pretty pointless bringing your kids up as City fans these days if they won't get to see us play in the third tier, get to have 'Heaney' printed on their shirt in the local sports shop, or be able to support another English club 'in Europe'. You may as well just all save yourselves a bit of money, and send them down the river in a wicker basket, Moses-stylee.

A couple of my good mates are Utd fans (I know, I know...) and they asked me a few years ago, what % of games have I been to when we have lost, do I think it's more than 50%? I'd never actually thought about that before, you just go without thinking, hoping we were going to win. When I thought about it, it's definitely more than 50%, although probably only not too high due to our time in Division 1/2 where we won quite a few!

Kids of today will never know that. Spending thousands of pounds over the years, going to matches pretty much knowing you were going to lose, but believing there's a slight chance you'll win, and if you do win (no matter who it's against), then you'll be the happiest person on the planet.

As someone said above, I think it's fair to say we've earned our shot at the big time. We've suffered long enough, although looking back on it, I wouldn't change how we got there for the world.

My kids are 21 & 16, at times its bordered on child cruelty over the years making them City fans. They've known plenty of bad times and shed a few tears along the way when they were younger. Having gone through that all their lives they really appreciated the FA Cup win, their were tears of joy for once.

The worry is that kids raised as City fans now will end up like the horrible rag fans round here that only know success and can regularly be seen out playing on the street as soon as the scum go a goal down in a TV game as the mere thought of failure removes all interest for them

They'll never have to watch the likes of Gerry Creaney and Ged Brannan.

Never see Mansfield away, or the 1st round of the league cup.

Lucky bastards!

Do you reckon this could get misinterpreted by foreign press/players during our Euro campaign next year?
