After the game I was chatting with mr nool and he said he felt a bit flat. Daft bugger thinks I, it was one of the best days of my life. But then over the last few weeks, I have started to feel the same. I remain over the moon that we won the cup and not only smashed open the "big four", but trampled on chelski and arsenals toes as well.

But somehow, I cant get used to it. Perhaps the weight of expectataion was too great, perhaps the millstone we have been carrying for so long just left too many scars, perhaps the fact that so many of us complained and grumbled through our best season for 40 years took its toll - i really dont know

All I know is I still dont believe we have made it to the big time. My head knows, we have the money, we have the right owners, we have a great set of players and we have a manager who actually delivered, but my heart, and supporting city is all about heart, doesnt yet really believe it. Perhaps I expected it to feel different?

I often said that it must be hard supporting one of the big four, because you expect to win every game, every trophy and every league, and when you dont its a disaster. Look at scum, our season got better and better and better, whilst theirs fell apart and despite finishing with 19th league title, their season finished with a lesson, a monstrous lesson (hahahaha) - what woul dit be like if we won the title and felt hard done to?

Do I need therapy? is it just the off season? Please help, I want to feel like we just won the cup, got 3rd and the world is at our feet

I know where your coming from I felt the same ,I couldnt relate to the players we'd brought in on big money ,mainly because there didnt seem to be the same passion or love for the club like 'Ye Olde Days',but the cup win and the way the team bonded together at the end of the season was great to see ,all of a sudden we started to see real characters not a bunch of overpayed mercenaries that were just at City for the big paycheck,we have a real TEAM now ,still tweaking to be done but they apart from FA cup win and joint second place finish the players showed they really cared about the fans and knew what it meant to win for us.Winning feels weird but I like it ,like it a lot :-)

No. This the way I remember the club, and what I've told my (adult) kids about (and every fucker else for that matter) all their lives.

i've talked to several Blues over the last year who are convinced that no matter what we accomplish that it's basically so different now that they just honestly miss the old days a bit, and ultimately feel the money will ruin us and the ADUG takeover, and Thaksin before them, was the worst thing that could have happened. These are reasonable, professional men in my age group mid 30s-mid 40s all of them, who've followed City since they were wee lads. The three of them don't know each other, and hang in different circles -- one in the Northeast US, one in London and one here in Orlando -- and so i suspect their attitudes are not that unusual. All of them have been excited as hell by the cup win, but are sort of at a loss. City, for them, has lost a bit of shine and their passion for the club, while still strong, isn't the same.

If City had won the FA Cup with a Stuart Pearce-led team of castoffs and misfits it would have been 1000x sweeter to them i am sure. And if we wen't down in one of the last few years, which we easily could have, they'd still be cheering for City every chance they get.

i have a different opinion, because i orchestrated this entire mess by starting to support the club then convincing Thaksin to buy them then to sell them to his friends at ADUG when things got a bit dicey, so i'm the puppet master and i expected it to play out like this. There's more in store, so stay tuned. FACT.

This. After years and years of watching dross, this is far far far more enjoyable.

I did feel a kind of 'difficulty in believing it' for a few days. But it's sunk in now and I'm loving it. Just for a change I'm not on the defensive - it's Grrrrrrrrrreat!

the difficulty for me is getting used to the expectation of winning every game. In the olden days I always went to the game and thought we should be ini with a chance if we played well. I prayed for at least a point against the top 6 teams and if we lost by the odd goal, it was acceptable if we put in a shift and can hold our heads high. I even got a kick if we lost but the crowd were awesome and proved we are fantastic fans.... NOW....I expect to win or get something at least out of EVERY game no matter who they are, home or away and that feels really strange. I suspect that others are the same as the feeling on the board when we get beaten goes WAY OTT and perspective is totally lost.

I think you are feeling flat because the season has finished, and it really could have been even better than it was given a few crappy results. All I can say is give me more next season.

I actually feel more nervous about the future than the past.

Can we keep it up? Can we mount a sustained title bid and make serious progress in Europe?

Maybe alot of us have a "It hasnt really sunk in yet" feeling, and some of us don't.

Maybe after so long of not winning anything, all the emotional and frustration built up to such a point that we had over done the (cant think of the word) sort of feeling we would have when we finally did win something. Kind of blown it out of all proportion.

We won something, great, what next?

There is also a feeling in the back of my mind that we need 20 years of success, to match THEM. Although I could see us notching up 5 European Cup wins faster than 20 years.

The best thing about it is that watching the Cup Final I just sat there thinking that we will end up winning even as chance after chance went begging. Usually I am up and down like a Jack-in-the-box getting too wound up by events on the pitch and even the missus asked if I was alright. A different sort of reaction at the final whistle where I was still rooted to my seat but stunned that we had actually won the cup! I just kept repeating to the family "I can't believe it" over and over again. Hopefully next season when we are in another final I will react like a normal match and calling the ref a cnut!!

I'm with Crossie on this one..this is where the pressure really starts to ramp up

We are now EXPECTED to challenge for the title and do well in the cups

I'm just worried we might not be able to deliver straight away and that new expectation from fans and director will lead to unrest and managerial changes

Personally I'd be happy if we consolidated top four next season with maybe a last 16 in the CL

But would that be enough for Khaldoon and co?

It's the old adage that if all your dreams come true you won't have any dreams left. Everything the sheik said would happen so far has happened - and this is only the start, we've lost the "plucky underdogs" tag which so many of us were very proud of. And to get used to the success, which many of us under 35 have waited so long to have will definitely take some time

That's exactly how I feel. I have waited so long and cried so much, I'm just not ready... I waited a long long time to have a sense of fulfilment, and now I don't really know what can beat the joy of it's delivery

You will be nothing both a positive contributor going forward? I almost want us to struggle at times just so I can hear you whinge. You not whinging is like me not breathing. It is not sustainable as the alternative is death. Say it isn't so you taco-eater.

Blimey charlie and I thought that it was just me with the feeling uncharactalistically glum mode having won the FA Cup and snatched 3rd place in the premiership.............
