Joe Hart Howlers?

Postby Patrick » Sun Jun 05, 2011 3:49 am

Bad day for Joe last night, already seen the press using the word howlers, but the England team were shocking.

The first goal Joe had to stay in the middle of his goal in anticipation of the cross being met, the defences job was to get to the cross. The second, well, Milner couldn't have helped the Swiss more if he had had a red shirt on, Joe didn't need to watch that side of the goal because the wall had it covered.

Two very lucky goals, but the Swiss deserved at least a draw. At least when you watch city we have a few off games and you have a few sensational games, England under copello just seem to underperform

Didn't watch the game but caught the highlights. Schoolboy defending from Milner. Could have put a defender on the post but he shouldn't have needed to when there were already two in the wall.

I'd say Joe could have done better with the first one, it looked like he thought Ferdinand would head it clear then got caught out by not anticipating him missing it. The second was Milner's fault, after the match they slowed it down from a different angle and the ball passed through a hole in the two man wall where he was supposed to be stood.

I'm glad he did it for England and not City.

Watching that game just made me feel that international football is dead. I liken it to the Eurovision song contest. Hyped, then let down.

We had our chances to win things when Terry, Lamp, Gerrard, Beckham, Scholes, Owen/Shearer, Wio, were all peaking in their mid twenties/early 30's.

Its time to fuck all the over 30's off and do a Germany, start developing the next generation 1 tournament too early, educate them and put faith in them.

Capello needs to go now too, I just don't know why he bothers.

First goal he has little or no chance with, as quality of the ball and angle left impossible job - Wio's missed header didnt help either.

2nd goal is a complete gaffe, both by him and Milner for breaking from the wall. Agree with OP who rightly stated that I hope he continues to save his gaffe's for England and not us.

Am I the only one concerned by the amount of time Hart pisses around with the ball, taking a touch, when its played back to him on the floor. Sooner or later one of these will be blocked into his own net and he will look a right clot. He takes too long and one touch too many sometimes.

Strange that, because I thought the first was worse. The flight of the ball was fairly obvious and it wasn't moving that fast.

The 2nd was less of his fault, by a long chalk, because Milner should never have got out of the way of it. It wasn't as if it was going to hit his face - it was waist/belly height.

Capello should and will stick with Hart, though. There really are no alternatives, which is a worry in itself.

I'm not sure however what Milner brought to the party, save for the assist for the equaliser.

That second free-kick was a brilliantly audacious effort. Would've caught out a lot of teams and/or goalkeepers. I bet Barnetta's pissed off that he's getting no credit for it.

To be honest he assisted the assist - his cross was to Baines who chested it down for Young (but Milner made the goal in my opinion) - I agree with you about the two goals we conceded, but I thought Milner had a pretty good match.

Simple fact is too many of the players aren't good enough and never will be. I don't think Wilshere is anywhere near the finished article and should be playing for the U21s. Johnson better than Richards? Do me a favour. Keep going Micah, it's just a matter of time before Fabio realises. Walcott did his usual fast paced running up blind alleys. Parker and Lampard didn't get to grips in the middle and having to rely on Bent says it all really.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

I thought the same. Thought Joe did well nearly getting to it after the wall (milner) fell apart!
