Madrid firesale?

Postby Wooders » Mon Jun 06, 2011 9:12 am

Anyone fancy any of these

The Brazilian, along with Lassana Diarra, Fernando Gago and Pedro Leon have all been told they are surplus to requirements by boss Jose Mourinho.

I think Lass and Kaka would fit here

Not seen much of Pedro Leon (cos Mourinho won't pick him) so I can't comment

I don't think Diarra or Gago are as good as Nige and will both cost a fortune in wage and Real will be looking to recoup what they paid. Diarra cost £20m and Gago cost 20m euros.

Kaka? having not seen that much of him since he signed for Real, with his injuries, is he still the same player?

I like Diarra but I'm happy with NDJ and Zab/Vieira as back-up for that position.

Not interested in Kaka or Gago. I want us to stick to our policy - started by Hughes and continued by Mancini - of building an upwardly mobile team that's going to grow and improve.

Under-24s for the most part, please, unless there's someone truly exceptional outside of that bracket who becomes available (Xavi, per exemple).

Edit: I'm aware that Vieira and Bellamy were over 24, but they were the exceptions rather than the rule.

Spot on. Diarra and Gago are mainly holding midfielders and that position has been filled 20 times over. We are now in a position that we no longer have to take on other teams cast-off's, even if it is Real Madrids. We have our very own cast-offs to shift in Adebayor, Bridge, Santa Cruz, Bellamy, SWP, Jo etc

Bridge, Toure, Given, Roque, SWP, Taylor, Barry.

The exception list grows.

Depending on what they were wanting for him, I'd be interested in Pedro Leon. Young enough to be there for years and clever enough on the ball to be a real compliment to Silva.

Haha. OK, point taken, but Given and Taylor don't matter so much anyway being keepers (and one strictly limited to emergency back-up). Add Lescott to your list too if you want. He was 26.

Still, the first team at the end of Hughes's time was a young one, and Mancini has got the age down further. (Kolarov, Balotelli, Dzeko, Johnson, Silva all in; SWP, Santa Cruz, Bridge, Given out). This is what we need to do. Chelsea fucked up by sigining too many players with not long left in them. They'll now need a few years to rebuild if they want to hit the heights of 2005-2008 again.

Let's not make the same mistake. Let's sign more players - like De Jong, Kompany and Silva - who are going to have their best years here.

Anyway, instead of combing to board for factual and grammatical inaccuracies, why not have a break and give your opinion on the thread topic for once?

Wasn't it reported that Kaka was on 300,000 a week; would we get that back in shirt sales?

I think Ade and Tevez both breached it too, but not by enough to make a difference, plenty of legs left in both.

But I agree, what we have here makes up the senior squad now, we can sign the Hazard's and Sanchez's of the game now which follows on from the purchases of AJ, Balo and Boateng.

Kaka won't be on 300,000 a week. That's bollocks. About half of that I reckon. I'd take him....rather have him to turn than Jo :)

I always forget about Boateng. I've got an inkling that he's going to become first choice centre-half to play alongside Kompany at some point in the next 18 months. There's definitely no future for him at full-back though.

Agree. Boateng is a centre half, and has looked a lot better when played there. If we show some patience he can develop into a good one too.

Kaka would be a great signing IMO, his style of play would suit the english game.... he's the Brazilian Gerrard

How's so?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

If they're not good enough for Real Madrid, then they're not good enough for us.

Both us and Real Madrid are now competing for the same trophies - national title and Champions League. We don't need their cast-offs.

Senijder and Van Der Vaart are Real Madrid cast-offs, whilst they themselves signed Diarra (didn't make it at Arsenal or Chelsea), Adebayor (out of the picture at City) and Faubert.

Sometimes players just need a move. I'd never write off a player for the sole reason that he's out of favour at his current club.

He started more games towards the end of the season and looked sharp enough in the ones I watched. I had convinced myself some club had already agreed to buy him when Real tied up the deal for Arda Turan though.

Actually, can anyone confirm Turan is moving to Real this summer? I think I heard it from a commentator during one of Real's games but I'm starting to doubt my sanity now (not for the first time)

Agreed, hasn't shown much at this point through poor form and injuries, but has 3 good centrehalves to learn his craft from.
