Bojan

I've heard a few bits and pieces in the Spanish media suggesting that he could be made available this summer, possibly to help Barcelona fund the Alexis Sánchez deal.
He'd probably set us back about 15 million quid. Not heard anything linking him to us as such, but I'd have the kid in a flash. Sharp, good finisher and can play anywhere across a front three. Still only 20 to boot.
Just the sort of pace, youth and versatility we should be looking for.
Let's see how he does for the U21s.

It's rumoured he will be involved in the deal for Sanchez to bring the cost down for Barca (since they've recently announced a limited [by Barca's standards] transfer budget)

Heard a lot about the talent of Bojan over the last two years, but every time I have seen him play, he has failed to impress me. He cannot be that promising if they want to offload him as part of a deal + cash to bring another player in who is a similar age.

Trust me, I watch a fair bit of Spanish football and this kid has got it all. I'd buy your 'cast-off' argument were it any other club, but nobody's moving Messi or Villa. Many great players wouldn't get into that side.
Not seen much of Sánchez so I can't really compare the two, but on his own merits Bojan would be a no-brainer at a good price.

It's not just Messi or Villa he has failed to move though, is it? He's been around the first team for a few years now, made his debut in 2007 (I know he's only 20) and Barca have spent a fortune on forwards during that time. Barca don't mess around in putting their youngsters in if they they're good enough and I'm not sure this lad is. Who'd have thought a two years back that a young right sided player would have a chance at Barca but they've made room for Pedro and have adjusted Messi's role.
I've seen flashes but nothing to convince me he's top class. The sort who I'd be happy for us to take on simlar terms to Suarez and Assulin but I'd hate to see us splash out anything like £15Mil on him.

It could be his style of play - he doesn't drop in and get involved in the build-up as much as Messi and Villa. He's very much an 'on the defender's shoulder' type forward.
Anyway, we'll get a good look at him on Sunday night. I'll be posting in the thread then whether he plays ace or shite!

Coached at Barca, scored at Barca, rated at Barca,he is more than good enough for Mcfc, rags payed 9 mill for Bebe, 3 for Obertan, this lad is on a dif planet to them great 1st touch, better than Dos Santos who has been poor since leaving Barca, as posted above this Barca have a 100 goals a season from there front 3 Bojan is unlucky to be behind Messi/Villa/Pedro, possibly the best forward line of all time. Sign him if poss.

I would be very hesitant about spending any more than 10m on this lad.
Remember Giovani Dos Santos, he left Barca and went to Spurs and has done sweet fa in 3 yrs since moving there. I suggest we steer clear

That's a comparison for comparison's sake. Totally different players with totally different circumstances.
Barça gave him a new contract last season, whereas they wanted shot of GDS. They're only (rumoured to be) willing to sell him now because they're on a tight budget.
As I said I've watched this lad closely loads of times and think he could offer us a lot. See for yourself on Sunday night.

There is no youngster in Spanish football I rate higher than him. Admittedly, I don't watch it too much, but he's impressed me on the dozen or so occasions I've seen him play. I'm really surprised Barca are willing to sell him, I'd have thought a year-long loan with an option of recall would be what they'd aim for, with a club of the calibre of Lyon.

I am happy to be proven wrong, I have must have watched games where he wasnt pivotal. TBH he was rated very highly a while ago and has not lived up to the hype that surrounded him. He probably needs a move to get his career back on track rather than living in the shadow of messi and co.

When Barca best Madrid 5-0 he came on and in the space 15 mins he could have had 3, set up one and was tbh, looking like a top player as you say it maybe he is just in need of games, how you gonna get em with the fire power they have.

so let me get this right, you "don't watch much spanish football" - yet you are "suprised" that barcelona, the club who owns the player and see what he is capable of week in week out both during games and on the training pitch, don't share your view that he is the best youngster in Spain?
Ok

Ok
I've seen more than 1 in 10 of all games he's played for Barcelona (admittedly according to Wikipedia's stats); that's about as much, if not more, than most Prem players, City aside. I was commenting more on what Wonderwall says than what Barca say- he's obviously been watching different games to me, or seen something I haven't (or vice-versa).
And yes, I am "surprised" he's being offloaded, like I was "surprised" Bellamy was sent out on loan, or "surprised" that Jordan Henderson (who I've only watched play less than half a dozen times) is valued at £20m. I'm not going to pretend I'm some kind of expert on the topics, just offering my own personal opinion, as I guess I know more about him than over 70% of the posters on here, as they don't watch any domestic football that happens outside of the British Isles, but am quite happy to admit that there are perhaps 30% who can offer a more rounded opinion.
Just what is your qualification to call him 'The Spanish Sturridge', exactly?

Yep, he is a cracking player, but the ongoing tale of Guy Assulin makes me worried. Bojan is not getting the games at Barca and they've brought in people like Affelay so that kind of says to me they don't think he's good enough. And I'm not saying that if he's not good enough for Barca, he's not good enough for us he just seems to have fallen by the wayside without too much fuss from Barca fans, so what does that say?

They can't be compared. Assulin has never played a professional senior match, and is injury-prone. Bojan has played over 100 games for Barca's first team in direct competition with the world's best player, and is only about 8 months older.

That they're spoilt for choice when it comes to world class attackers? Being European Champions might also distract them a bit. I do sort of get your reservations, but I don't buy the 'not good enough for Barça, not good enough for us' thing. He is good enough for Barça - they gave him a new contract last season. It's just a difficult side to get into.
Also, 'Guy' Assulin? Homophobe!

Close to Roma according to sources in Spain. I think he is very average player but to be honest to him if the manager doesn't trust him there's not much he can do to show what he is capable of. Apparently no Spanish team is interested in him as of now. If he go to Roma I don't think he's going to play much there too.
