Didn't see this in Chinners news round up, and thought it was a great read which makes some valid points!

Dont shoot the messenger.............................

Carlos Tevez’s moaning shows why young Brits like Jordan Henderson are a bargain

IF you want a reason why clubs are willing to pay £15m-plus on mediocre English talent like Phil Jones and Jordan Henderson, I give you the case of Carlos Tevez.

His moaning about wanting to leave is reaching a crescendo and underlines just how hard it is to please a uber-rich Premier League import these days.

Mega-bucks long-term deal? Check.

The main man at club, complete with captain’s armband? Check.

Adoration of fans? Check.

Huge poster of yourself welcoming people into the city where half the population worship you (and the other half used to)? Check.

The nod to fly back home at every hamstring tweak or homesick thought? Check.

But still Carlos is unhappy. Mostly because Manchester’s boring and he wants to head closer to his home of Argentina. Somewhere like Milan.

Now you don’t need to be Robbie Savage to work out that place is further away than Eastlands, but that’s just semantics in the world of Senor Tevez.

The man who after five years in England, still doesn’t speak the language. My God, what does he do all day after his three hours of training if he a) doesn’t speak the language but b) doesn’t have time to learn it?

He says he misses family and wants to get closer to them. That’s understandable and if he signs for Boca Juniors next I’ll eat my words. But he won’t – he’ll court another big European club like Inter or a Spanish giant.

Yes, they have winter breaks so he can return to Argentina, but he’s already got a club that is sympathetic to his needs and he’ll get plenty of trips back during international breaks.

City have been nothing but good to Tevez, and as they stand on the cusp of doing something, he owes them something in return.

If he wants to leave with his head held high, he’s better off not going on Argentine TV saying Manchester’s boring because no one speaks his language.

While many City fans seem to be sympathetic to his plight, that won’t help matters.

Now I don’t know everything about Tevez’s family life, but I do think that after spending five years somewhere it means it’s probably safe enough to bring your children over to be with you.

Manchester’s not that boring for a child, you’ve got Wythenshawe Park farm (where they’ve got cats, dogs and sheep), the Bolton Steam Museum and the Granada Studio tours. They might get to meet Steve McDonald.

But I’ve got a feeling Tevez wants to show how good he could be on another, easier, stage.

Every game in the Premier League is a battle, from Wolves at home to Stoke away.

Add in the fights with the top teams and you have a long, hectic season in which you have to work hard for every inch and every victory.

The money pumped into the league – paying the likes of Tevez megabucks – means these clubs battle all the way to stay in it and there are no easy games. Except if you’re playing a side managed by Avram Grant, of course.

Not so in Italy or Spain, where the top clubs dominate and the likes of Getafe or Lecce turn up to the likes of the Nou Camp or San Siro to roll over and have their bellies tickled by the likes of Lionel Messi (50+ goals this season).

Tevez wants a bit of that – the Premier League with 50+ games all played at break-neck speed is getting tough. It doesn’t even give him time to learn the language.

Every foreign player brought into the cauldron of the Premier League is a gamble. If they’re young enough and willing to work at it – like Tevez was at West Ham – then they’ll be a success. And because they’ve made it in the toughest league of all, continental clubs will want them.

Henderson and Jones may not have Tevez’s talent, but they are down-to-earth British boys who know what the Premier League – and the fans – demand of them.

They don’t carry any baggage and when a foreigner is seen to be demanding this and that – pushing rank and file fans further away from the sport – for all their talent, which is really the gamble?

good little read that very funny. but i'm not sure tevez has ever said he doesn't have 'time' to learn the language, which seems to be the basis of the entire article.

Trying to justify the price of wank like henderson for ridiculous amounts of money by pointing out the faults of the moaning ungrateful premier league top scorer.

Fucking fail.

For every Carlos Tevez, I will show you a Vincent Kompany.

For every Jordan Henderson, I will show you a Danny Sturridge.

It went bollox in the first line. Because when I've seen Jordan Henderson lately he would barely make a Sunday League side. The odd flash of brilliance accompanied by acres of mediocrity. Gamble. Big, big gamble. I wouldn't be happy if we were signing him.

What a load of rubbish that report was. I know Tevez is a whinger, yet he gives 100% in every single game and knows exactly what the Premier League is all about. I'd be here all day if I listed all of shit English players who were poor in the Premier League.

Jones and Henderson are completely unproven and the fees paid for them are absurd.

It's a complete myth that only British players 'get' the Premier League. Saying things like that does a complete disservice to people like Tevez, Kompany, De Jong, not to mention all the players throughout the years for us and other clubs, Henry, Bergkamp, Di Canio etc. I'm fairly certain they 'get' the Premier League.
