Manchester City have been linked with a summer move for Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Luka Modric.
The 25-year-old Croatian was one of the Premier League's stand-out performers last season, with Manchester United and Chelsea also reportedly monitoring him.
And now City have joined the race for his signature as boss Roberto Mancini looks to strengthen his squad for next season's Premier and Champions League campaigns, report the Daily Mail
Argentina star makes Man City and Chelsea wait over transfer
Manchester City and Chelsea will have to wait until the end of July before they can make a move for Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero.
Aguero, 23, has told the Spanish club that he is looking to make a big money move during the summer, but will delay a decision over his future until the Copa America finishes in South America next month.
Manchester City and Chelsea have both been strongly linked with a move for the prolific forward, who is currently with the Argentina squad preparing for the showpiece tournament in his homeland.
With uncertainty surrounding the future of Carlos Tevez, Roberto Mancini is keen to bolster his forward line ahead of their first season in the Champions League.
Chelsea are also looking to bring a big name striker to Stamford Bridge.
But both clubs will have to be patient as they look to finalise a move to bring Aguero to the Premier League.
Aguero said: "A decision about a possible transfer elsewhere will be made when the Copa America is over. At the moment, I don't know anything about what will happen."
Real Madrid have also been strongly linked with a move for the Argentine international and Aguero admits he is flattered that Jose Mourinho is showing an interest in him.
Aguero added: "Obviously, I am pleased that a coach like him [Mourinho] talks positively about me. It's always good to be praised by other coaches."

TEVEZ TO CHELSEA?
Sources close to Chelsea football club have claimed that the Stamford Bridge side are making discreet enquiries regarding the availability of Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.
It remains somewhat of a mystery regarding Tevez’s future with the 27 year old suggesting he will not be returning to Manchester City and also complaining about home sickness with many reports claiming he would prefer a move back to Argentina, however Chelsea are of the opinion that he may just need a change of scenery and are hoping he may be tempted with a move to London.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has plenty of transfer targets in mind but wants Turkey manager Guus Hiddink in charge before confirming any mega money deals although it has been revealed the Dutchman has been advising on potential targets already. Manchester City have been reported as saying that they will not accept less than £50m for the Argentine and although that figure would easily be within Chelsea’s reach Abramovich will want to know whether Hiddink would like Tevez on board before getting out the cheque book.
Manchester City do seem resigned to losing the striker however they will not allow him to leave cheaply, Tevez is Eastland’s top goal scorer as well as their current captain so any clubs looking to prise him away will need to offer a big upfront fee. With Chelsea making enquiries regarding his availability and Real Madrid also reported to be interested, his next club will depend on whether Tevez wants to leave the Premiership and play football in La Liga.
Chelsea will also know that Carlos Tevez is somewhat of a lose cannon, making his feelings clear whenever he gets the opportunity and the West London club will not want to splash out £50m only for Tevez to get into a mood mid season when he is left out for Torres or Drogba. The striker has made numerous outbursts this season within the dressing room and any new manager would not like to have to deal with that at a new club.

EVERTON and Bolton are competing for Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata.
But the 20-year-old Belgium international said he was not prepared to be the makeweight in a deal taking Wanderers’ centre-back Gary Cahill to Eastlands.
Arsenal are likely to move in for Cahill.
Boyata is under contract until 2014 but is unhappy at having made just 16 appearances last season as Roberto Mancini’s side won the FA Cup and qualified for the Champions League.
His father Bienvenu said: “There is talk of a swap with Gary Cahill at Bolton, but Dedryck does not want to go there. Everton are very much an option for him.”
Uwe Rosler is lining up a raid on his old club Manchester City.
Skysports.com understands that new Brentford boss Rosler has agreed to take charge at Griffin Park and the League One club are set to officially confirm his arrival shortly.
And it is believed Rosler is already well on with plans for his new club.
Skysports.com understands that he is now looking at his former club and wants to bring in Shaleum Logan.
The 23-year-old right-back has been told he can leave Eastlands when his contract expires this summer and Rosler is ready to offer him the chance to move to the capital.
But a number of other clubs are also chasing Logan's signature.
Despite just playing one game for City he has extensive experience from lower league football having spent time on loan at Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Stockport and Tranmere.
