.................is to be a press centre apparently. Should boost the takings with all those drunken idiots passing through.

Manchester City have been given the green-light to transform a run-down stadium boozer.

The Blues will turn the Maine Road pub near Eastlands into a place for media to pick up press passes for games after being given planning permission by the town hall.

The pub, on Rowsley Street, was once owned by City legend Mike Sumerbee and named after the club's former Moss Side ground. It is thought City's owners paid around £100,000 for the site last year.

It got knocked down ages ago (I'm sure of it) and I think has been designated not only to pick up press passes (would be a waste of a venue) but for those with a bit more money to collect passes and to chill out before games.

At present there's no place for the wealthy's pre-match stiffy, this would be the perfect experience for them.

Been on the cards for ages, went in it a few times a couple of years ago and the walls were like waterfalls! Not pleasent.
