Former Manchester City footballer admits kicking woman in Rhyl

A FORMER Manchester City player has been sent to Crown Court for sentence after admitting being involved in a brawl in Rhyl.

Javan Vidal, who had two under-20 England caps, was caught on CCTV repeatedly hurling a 22-year-old blonde to the ground and kicking her after she had butted him to the face.

The 22-year-old defender, of Lee Crescent, Stretford, Manchester, appeared at Prestatyn magistrates court yesterday following the incident at 3.50am on May 30.

Vidal, who was released by the Premiership club last week, pleaded guilty to an affray charge.

Amy Temple, of Maes Famau, Rhyl, admitted a similar charge and District Judge Andrew Shaw bailed both to appear at Mold Crown Court on July 21.

Prosecutor James Neary said the incident outside the Godfather kebab shop began when another man allegedly made a remark to Temple, who had been drinking.

In the CCTV footage Temple was seen headbutting Vidal who then threw her to the ground and as other men tried to drag him away he followed her down the street and kicked her several times.

Mr Neary told the court that Vidal then appeared to try to push her into the path of a taxi but the driver managed to avoid her. When interviewed Temple told police she was ashamed of what she had done.

Caroline Wilbraham, representing the player, said that although it was a prolonged attack there had been provocation.

“He accepts that he had been drinking and that his behaviour was unacceptable.”

Andy Hutchinson, for Temple, said she, too, had been drinking and had responded to comments of a sexual nature.

Another fine upstanding citizen produced by our academy, I know we aren't supposed to slag it off but seriously, the next time one of the staff is interviewed and bangs on about how we take great care to develop every aspect of our young players, not just the football, they should get the microphone forcibly inserted ........ sideways

If you think it's ordinary for young lads to get pissed and kick women in UK then we can merget this with Broken Britain thread right now.

And in past fifteen years Academy graduates involve people who have been convicted of armed robbery, shoplifting, theft, assault with intention to cause bodily harm few times. It's like we are some sort of criminal Academy where you either become professional footballer or go to jail.

We are trying to sell our Academy as place to be for mort talented youngsters in the world. Do you think their parents are impressed with our "strike rate"?

How many kids go through the academy, how many make it to be able to make a living from football and how many end up fucked? Work it all out, factor in the already mentioned culture of broken britain with mind of the impoverished inner city catchment areas and then take a bucket full of over reaction and i think weve found some common ground.

You can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink.

Micha Richards came from a grim part of Leeds - we screwed his life up didnt we?

It will allways be some one elses fault and never the fault of the perp with some.

I was head butted by a girl a 100 yards from my home after a night out. I was giving directions and got headbutted for my trouble. I lost control and reacted. I spent the night in A and E with five stitches to the eye. Not saying its the same situation but you dont know the whole situation. So before making your wise ass comments, try taking a headbutt to the face and try not to react. No one's perfect and people react worse after a beer. I dont have a history of this and no crim record, but in my opinion if a woman can hit like a man, she has to be treated like a man.

Look kiddo, hitting women is not cool. In any situation.

And that's got to be first time I've been called "wise ass" by 14 year old.

The Academy's only been going 13 years. Only products that have been convicted of an offence so far to my recollection are that Tandy guy, the goalkeeper who tried to blackmail Micah, and Barton - only one of whom was a 'graduate'.

Besides, currently in Britain 0.13% of the general population are in jail, whereas 0.61% of MPs who won seats in the 2005 election are currently serving time. Now that's what I call a bad record.

nice MP stat

You're forgetting Kelvin Etuhu, Laquan Esdaille-Biney and even Ashley Sestanovich
If that's all there are then the ratio is something like:
38(?) make it into the 1st team (at least once), 6 go to jail.
in 13 years we've had, what 300 Academy kids? If so, 2% have done time.
and actually, of the 38 who "made it", 2 (c5%) have been jailed. So far

Listen disco pants, hitting women is not definetly not cool. But neither is hitting men. Respect is a 2 way thing and incase you have not noticed we do not live a perfect society. You only having to walk through town on a fri,sat night to witness this. So unless you can change society as a whole you will always get individuals who behave like this. I dont believe in letting anyone hit me, but then I dont go round hitting people as it nice to be nice. So stop being judge and jury and dont take things so serious.

Bradley Wright-Phillips got suspended sentence if my memory serves me.

If i'd be looking at those stats as non-City supporting parent of top football talent , I'd choose some other Academy for my kid for sure.

This is Britain mate. It's par for the course.

This is Utd's No 1 top prospect & possibly a future England star & I don't think this even scratches the surface:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011 ... ult-charge

Have a look at the record of their players over the years. I was told stuff by a top copper about one of their famous home grown CL winning squad which would make your hair curl & it wasn't about the bloke who's just been caught shagging his brother's girlfriend.

I'm loving the double standards. Hitting women ain't cool, though let's ignore the fact she headbutted him, according to the report. Also, women have fought hard for equal rights, a.k.a emancipation. However, as usual, double standards rule the world.
It is ok for mothers to cheers and scream for Justin Bieber, but dads yelling for Miley Cyrus, clearly he's a perv.

For anybody misunderstanding my post; all I am saying is: "If you ask, you should be prepared to receive."

Mate, when I was a kid I was standing in the queue at Burger King in Manchester, there was a young couple in the queue next to me and a group of about six 'girls' behind them. One of the 'girls' tried to push in the queue and I think the girl who was with her boyfriend moved forward to stop her. Everyone of the 'girls' in the group started going crazy at the girl and tried going for her. Her boyfriend stood in front of her and took that many punches to the face I lost count. They didn't stop when he stood in front of her because they knew he wouldn't do anything back. The police turned up and these 'girls' ran off. The guy was covered in blood but didn't make a scene, just talked to the police and then went on his way.

And then last year I read a story that a gay couple (male) were on a night out when they were attacked by a gang of women. One of them died after being stamped on the head by one of the women's high heels.

We choose what decision we would make based upon our past experiences.

Do not misunderstand my post as if am condoning people punching/headbutting/kicking people, whether you're male, female, old, or Jesus. All I am saying is, if you can throw a punch, be prepared to receive one. I'm also not saying I'm throwing my hands around.
