Never seen this before. At freekicks refs are marking where the ball and wall should be.

It was tested on MLS and apparently it's tested in copa america by some referees to further test whether it's suitable as permanent thing.
I'm a real traditionalist and belong to small minority that doesn't want goal line technology for example but I think this is actually really good idea.

I know they were doing it in the Brazilian leagues last season, it is a good idea to stop teams from being inside 10 yards from the ball and the free-kick not being taken in right place

Can't say I'm a fan. For me there will be no talking points soon if all traces of interprtation are taken out of the game. It really will get like football on an Xbox game.

I don't think this spraying thing would have that sort of efect but in general I very much agree with you. Soon we'll just have robots playing the game. I mean, human error, may it be players or referees, is part of what makes football beautiful game. Whole world novadays is so controlled and strict that football for me serves as a getaway from all that. Part of that getaway is the fact that sometimes penalties are missed or awarded for no apparent reason and sometimes ball does indeed cross the line and ref will not notice it.

I find it annoying when the player breaks early from the wall and is about half way to free-kick taker by time ball is struck and then ref does nothing about it, hopefully this stops people from charging early

Agreed, I think I saw Fabregas or Princess charge the ball down and they were easily half way to the ball as it was struck and nothing was done. Making sure the current rules in place are enforced and adhered to does not turn the game into robots.

Anyone watching Ecuador vs. Paraguay? Santa Cruz vs. Caicedo and Antonio Valencia, among others playing. Santa Cruz has looked decent so far, Caicedo has looked a bit of a donkey. Ecuador haven't had much possession though.

I saw part of it. I thought Santa Cruz looked horrible as ever. Caicedo was shocking and reminded me how HE REALLY HAS NO FIRST TOUCH. Caicedo is goner but I wonder if we will EVER get rid of Santa Cruz. My heart bleeds thinking how much we paid for him and what sort of wages he is on. It's not my money I know but still. Fucking fuck. Can't we sell him to Hughes as his male servant? That rag cunt seems to fucking love his shiny hair.

I watched the Brasil game last night and in that game the ref did not do it.
Is it down to the ref's discretion?
I think if that's the case it's better.
