A player renegotiating a contract is news worthy?
Fucking arseholes.
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 96,00.html?
Skysports.com understands a number of clubs are monitoring Micah Richards' contract situation at Manchester City.
Manchester City have opened talks with Richards about a contract extension with the England international having two years to run on his present deal.
The 23-year-old, who is thought to be on £50,000 a week, is believed to be among the lowest earners in City's star-studded squad.
Richards was Roberto Mancini's first-choice right-back last season and he played a key role in helping City win the FA Cup and claim a place in the UEFA Champions League by finishing third in the Premier League.
Talks are ongoing between both parties, but a deal is believed to be some way off, alerting a number of Richards' suitors.
Premier League trio Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are long-term admirers of Richards and they are all thought to be keeping tabs on developments.
All three clubs are in the market for defensive reinforcements and they could move for Richards if they are given any encouragement that he may not agree a new deal at Eastlands.
Italian giants Juventus are also thought to be interested in Richards and are weighing up a move for him should a new deal not materialise.
Richards is understood to be keen to stay at City, but if he is unable to agree a new deal he may be forced to consider his options.

he's 4 years into a 6 year contract! Incredible in the modern era. Negotiations will happen, first offer is always rejected (cue stories) but his side will try and get every penny, its part of football, hopefully it will be quick, he'll be in demand in the last year of his contract.
He'd walk into every other side in England, Spain wouldn't have the money (he's not getting in Barca or Real's team) as 6 top flight sides are in administration and Italy still have the racism factor plus Juve change direction every other week.
At CIty he's the potential to earn the most money, win more medals and really cement his name in the history of the club

He loves the club. Pretty obvious. I wouldn't be surprised if this meant the club took the piss a little bit with their first offer presuming he'd sign anything - however, his no doubt rightful rejection will provoke a better offer and everything will be fine. Not in the slightest bit concerned.

Does anyone remember "Vague news" on Mark and Lards show, have sky sports news bought the rights.
Vague news on Micah,
Micah Richards or maybe someone else who plays for Manchester City, but very possibly another sports team, has decided to hold talks probably or not about a new contract or something like that. If he doesnt, but he very well could, it will happen tomorrow or likely a day after that. Our sources at sky sports say this is definately happening or could maybe not.

I do feel sorry for any homegrown players like Micah (as much as you can feel sorry for someone on £50k per weeek).
The fact that they came through the club system, puts them at a disatvantage against anyone coming in.
I imagine he gats paid well less than Kolarov, Milner, and even the new boy Savic is on a wedge.
There should be no pissing about. Micah, is the present and future, and should be on parity with the others of his ability.

With new squad rules in European competitions, the fact that he came through the club puts him in great ADVANTAGE. They NEED to keep him.
I'd be shocked if Savic is on 50 k/w.

all those "suitors" can jog on 'cause Richards plans on staying,
Skysports.com understands Micah Richards is set to pen a new long-term contract at Manchester City.Richards is still tied to the Blues for the foreseeable future, but the club are prepared to reward him with fresh terms.
The 23-year-old has become an integral part of Roberto Mancini's plans and is one of only a handful of players to have survived the Eastlands revolution.
A product of the club's academy system, Richards is closing in on 200 appearances in a City shirt.
There was a suggestion earlier in the summer that talks regarding a new deal were to be put on hold as City carried out business elsewhere.
They have, however, moved quickly to tie the England international down and rule out any threat of a move being made elsewhere.
Richards has always insisted that he would be happy to stick with City and he is now set to back up those claims by committing his future to the club.

In fact haven't we just been subjected to two 'contract rebel' articles on Kompany and DeJong, purely because negotiations had just started? 2 years to run is the time to do it, otherwise you're in Nasri territory before you know it. Let's leave Arsenal as the nation's current laughing stock.
This is John Williams' job now and I'm sure he'll reach agreement with DeJong and Kompany in the near future.

total utter unmitigated bollocks as we can now see
Micah Richards is delighted to have pledged his future to Manchester City, skysports.com can reveal.
Richards has been in talks with City about his future, and he has now committed to a new four-year deal.
The 23-year-old England international has become a key part of Roberto Mancini's side since the Italian took charge at the Etihad Stadium last season.
Richards's form has also seen him recalled to the national side and he is now regarded as one of the country's top defenders.
City have now rewarded Richards's progress in the last 12-months with a new long-term deal and the player, who is a graduate of City's academy, is delighted to be remaining with the only club he has played for.
"Micah is delighted to have signed this new deal and secure his future," his agent Alex Levack of Sidekick Management confirmed to skysports.com.
"Manchester City is the place he wants to be as it is his home.
"It really is a fantastic achievement that Micah is the only player left at Manchester City who has come through the academy and is a first-team regular.
"Manchester City is an ambitious and exciting club to be at and a club where Micah knows he can achieve all of his ambitions in the game.
"Roberto Mancini has been wonderful with him, as have the fans and everyone at the club, and Micah was only too delighted to commit his future to them."
