Confessional thread.... When were you wrong?

I admit, in hindsight, Hughes was never good enough for what we needed...
I admit, Sven was also a spent force
But I think we should hang on to Mancini, rather than go for. A "name" he could be our home grown hero rather than a chelskiesque easy buy

Players I thought would come good.
Samaras
Vassel
Bwp
Kasper
Players I thought were doing well but were shipped out anyway so I could be wrong
Elano
Bridge
Ade
Robinho
Given (who gun to head would have started at spurs if I was manager)
Sturridge
Bellers

I thought Elano would turn things around.
I wanted Mancini sacked, the problems we have under him still haven't been fully rectified, but he won us the FA Cup and qualified for the Champions League, had to argue with results.

Get out of my head you.
Also, I thought Bianchi was the bollocks. Even when he missed an open goal against Blackburn which would've secured our tenth straight win or something.
I was also wrong about Buster Phillips. Talk about getting conned by thhe press.

But it was lonely in mine, if I had a conversation in my head the echo gives me a headache.

These are from my mancityfans.net era. As kid I was always so fucking naive with all our signings I thought they'd all be future superstars.
There were huge number when we were shite and was kind of desperate for someone, ANYONE, to be succesfull for us
Pearce - this is probably THE worst miss ever. I just tried to close my eyes for a good while HOPING he'd be as good manager as he is a man. Had to complete U-turn in the end. Tactically utter fucking clown. Still nice man though.
Samaras - Again, I was warned but I was just so desperate for him to be good for us. For what it's worth, I never thought it was lack of trying with him. In fact, sometimes felt he was trying too hard.
Jo - All I can say is that I saw him for Moscow quite a few times and was always impressed. I still don't understand how he turned out to be such complete mess for us.
Dunne - Some of the latecomers will remember me saying time and time again we should sell him. But those people may not know that for a long long time he was like a god to me. At some point though I realised that he has such glaring weaknessess to his game that he simply isn't as good as I used to tell anyone who were willing to listen.
Hart - Well I always thought he was massively talented but in the beginning of last season I thought Given was still better keeper. EPIC FAIL.
Bojinov - I STILL think he WAS massively talented lad. Never made it in the end because of the injuries.
And the most embarrasing one. It'll be interesting to see if anyone else will admit this as I'm sure I wasn't alone
GOATER - Didn't see the point at the time.

You've lost me totally on the last sentence. Do you mean the treble-title winning manager from Italy, or his son? :-)
But as for Sven I always thought he was a charlatan. Hughes i admit I thought we would be more patient with. Mancini I also thought we should be more patient with, and he proved me right so far!
Elano was absolute shite apart from 2 free kicks and a few penalties. There is no doubt about that and it mystifies me why some people still hold him up as a God.

I'm surprised to see that no one admits to having written Richards off. There were plenty of people on here voicing that opinion.
Elano was a favourite of mine as well, until he good those awful dreads. I knew he was gonna turn shit then.
I thought Silva would be too physically weak for the PM.
I still think Kolarov will come good (a pre-mature confession).
I thought Ned was a better footballer than Richards, and that we shipped out the wrong player.

I was wrong about Samaras, I honestly thought he was going to bang in 20 goals a season for us.
He does have lovely hair though.

Not to mention Yaya.
Me? Wrong about Mancini?
Give over ;-)

I wasn't as wrong about Yaya as I was about Samaras, but yes I might have failed to immediately see Yaya's qualities.
I think you might have been a
bit wrong about Mancini, but I have no strong feelings on that subject either way..

I once suggested we should raid Middlesborough for strikers. Yeah, Maccarone, that lad can play. Last season I suggested Blackburn, Villa and Newcastle were going down. This season perhaps...

Off top of my head i never thought Kompany was good enough centre half, massively proved wrong.
I usually think all our signings will be great when they sign and given our track record i get most of it wrong!

Mancini, without a doubt.
I was beginning to really loathe our football as the season wore on and doubting I was going to renew my SC.
The way we responded after the Anfiled embarrassment and the way he totally accepted responsibility was impressive. By the time the season finished, we looked unstoppable and basically stopped conceding goals whilst playing with some flare. So, hands up, well done Mancini.

I thought Martin Phillips would be the country's first 10 million pound footballer.
OK, not really, but I did think Thaksin Shinawatra was a good guy
