City v Galaxy

So for some reason Fox Soccer Channel is show "local" Los Angeles adds for Sunday's match v the Galaxy. The use such superlatives as "the monsters from across the pond"
"powerhouse"

and then in some really annoying voice say stars like:

"David Silva"
"Gareth Barry"
"Jerome Boateng" - ummm WTF? I almost vomitted
"David Beckham" - I did vomit....

OK forget the fact Boateng is gone, I am thinking, really? Of all the other players they could have picked Boateng was the 3rd choice? LA is not known for it's large German population. And people wonder why 'soccer' doesn't make it in this country....

Anyway, this should be fun, Real dismantled them on Saturday.

I get that though, he is an England international, it plays to the US biases.

We have plenty of other England Internationals (Hart, Lescott, Milner, Richards, Johnson, SWP, etc) so it's a bit strange that they have given Barry the top billing!

He's got more caps than the others; not quite as many as them put together but it must be close.

A little offtopic.
Does Kolo have the right to play in this tour? Or the ban doesn't allow that even in a friendly game?

He's not even allowed to train with the team. he's banned from organised football, full-stop.

This is a little odd. When Mutu was banned for the same reason, last winter, after taking sibutramine, he played in friendlies for Fiorentina, and at the begining of the suspension he trained with Dinamo Bucharest.
And Mutu was at his second ban, after the coke chelsea.

Gareth Barry kinda resembles Matthew Fox, the actor who played Jack on Lost. That's all I can come up with for his "star power."
