The board of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista hereby officially to communicate the impossibility of hiring the Argentine striker Carlos Tevez. While recognizing the efforts of Manchester City and all involved in the negotiation, there is more time for the transfer to be achieved, given that the window to the players from abroad ends on Wednesday, July 20. Aware of the huge crowd dream of having a new striker as a player of Corinthians, the board looks forward to Tevez in the near future.

This deal was never going to happen. Firstly, the time frame meant Corinthians were always up against it. Secondly, it just seemed too dodgy - where does a Brazilian club get 40m+ from all of a sudden. I understand the Brazilian economy is doing well but this was just too out of the ordinary. I think City recognised this and that's why we were carrying out so many checks.
City should just now say to Tevez that we're still open to a sale but if nothing is sorted by the end of July, or we have no realistic offer, then he has to stay for the next season. If he stays, we cannot let him go in January. He can stay one more year, help us win the league and we'll get a deal sorted next summer.
We can't let this drag on into August as it will affect our pre-season preparations, and possibly the start of the season.
Well done to club on this, though, and not being forced into a quick deal.

Tevez was surely going to have to take a pay cut to go to Brazil, so surely now he will take the same pay cut to go to Inter (who inferred both transfer fee and wages were the stumbling blocks) if he is so desperate to leave.
Surely they could stump up a few million quid and send us Schneider
Or we could just swap him for Aguero and everyone is happy

I would like to think that pulling out of a deal with 24 hours still to go means that they know he's going somewhere else.

They bottled it.
Five years ago we wouldn't have got 45 million for the entire squad.
Good times

This whole thing was a publicity stunt, probably engineered by Jorabchian. It was never going to happen.
If Jorabchian, Tevez and Corinthians were serious about this deal they wouldn't have left it this late. By doing so they have created a situation in which Carlos appears to have had his 'dream move dashed'. This will no doubt be used against us through the press over the coming weeks, 'City stalled, a deal was on table', and will no doubt be referred to by Tevez' camp if we start playing hard ball over a fee with a European side.
It's all a game and Jorabchian is a slimely, scheming cunt.

I'd like to think that too.....but the cynic in me thinks that they were hoping to get this on the cheap and with deferred payment and just hope to god they could assemble the funds to pay for him after the deal was done....and accept that they might have to flog him (back to Europe, at a profit) after a season or so.
I think our demanding an installment up front and also (likely) asking for a share of sell-on fees made it all go to shit for them.

Something like this I'd say.
I'm not surprised in the slightest the deal hasn't happened, I doubt whether anybody else is, including the club.
In fact I think the club has been quite canny in the way it has dealt with it, cooperating until the proof showed Corinthians didn't have the loot, even saying they believed the rubbish about his family being the reason for him to go. I doubt they really have much sympathy for Carlito and his family. I certainly don't.

What a mess. No doubt Tevez will have at least 3 times whne he 'has to go back to Argentina' for family reasons, right in the middle of an important run of games. I'm clinging to the hope he goes to Inter in a deal for Wesley. I think Tevez is awesome, but it's not great having this albatross around our necks.

Exactly - Kia trying to line his pocket again
City did everything right here - established clauses that proved if it was just about the kids he could go - if it was about 2 swift transfers and a paydays for everyone else, they could fuck right of
guess what they fucked right off...... and made them look like numpties

Doesn't Tevez still have three years left on his contract? If so, I'd let Corinthians have him for twelve months for an up-front fee of about 7 million quid, which would cover the depreciation in his market value over that period and free up some money for wages.
I don't want him back now. He's diverting attention away from all the good stuff that's happening with the squad.
I wish we could have a squad full of smart, level-headed lads like Kompany, Lescott, Dzeko, De Jong, Barry, Hart, Zabaleta etc. I'm getting sick of this Robinho/Tevez type of fucking saga. We've got the money and the scouting network to make sure we don't sign flaky cunts from now on.

I agree with you, His very tricky agent, might just writing the script for "If going back to S America is delayed until Jan he will only play for MCFC as I love the supporters" For me I say get rid anyway we can buy who we want. Plan for MCFC not Tevez. Top player complete tool.

Hopefully, Tevez will be the last of the tiresome ingrates. When he's gone I'll breathe a big sigh of relief. The Corinthians move was never on the cards, though. That should have been obvious when their record signing is still Tevez for about £9 million in the mid-2000s. Clearly, the baggage Tevez comes with is putting people off signing him for his goals, because not only is he a bit of a moron with a grasping, litigious agent, but he is a greedy non-team player determined to grab any glory going for himself, and himself alone.

I reckon their bid was being bank rolled by Abramovic. A year in Brazil, then back to England.

They're doing some big business this transfer window.
Wonder what price they are to win the league without the big 2

I reckon Malaga would be a good fix,get him sent there until his 'DREAM' move back home in January.
As long as they cover all his wages and pay a decent loan fee, with him in there side they will improve no end.

Apparently Inter's Sporting director was filmed "bumping" into Tevez on his hols.
Hmmm... odds of that eh.
