US Tour - McGivern in midfield.

I've only seen extended highlights of City's games in the US, but McGivern seems to have been playing in midfield.

Can anyone analyse how he's been doing in this position and could it be that Bobby Manc sees this as being his ultimate role at City ??....or is it just to give him some playing time ??

Any thoughts anyone.

I think we are short in midfield, and I think we will sign one or two more - although I believe Suarez isn't quite registered yet (???). I dont think McGivern will have a role, and he's in the shop window.

Its true we are short on midfield players at the moment, so maybe Roberto is looking at options for cover in case of injury or just thinks he has seen something in the lad that means he can switch roles and is giving it a try.

From the highlights he`s not turned into a superstar (Yet), but he aint done a lot wrong either so who knows, an if Roberto wants to take a look at players from a different perspective now is the right time to do it.

If McGivern is a serious consideration for midfield by Mancini I am thinking he has totally lost the plot. I can only think he is just filling a space. But he is better than his son.

I'd rather us play Bingo in midfield than either McGivern or Andrea Mancini

But that wouldn't be such a bad thing, coz I'm ace.

You just have to trust the manager, not every member of a great team needs to be a world beater, they just have to be what the team need in that area, maybe Roberto is looking at him for that, or to see if he wants to keep him at the club, either way now is the ideal time to find out how he could fit in with other options before the games turn real, we have a busy season ahead and the more options the better for us.

Shop window.

McGivern is about 3 paces too slow to play in the top division. A move to Oldham doth beckon.

Mancini is not that slow to work out whether he can fill a 1st team role or not.In pre season when he is missing players he can use him but not in the premiership which I am sure he knows.

For me hes looked like a player who is unsure about what hes meant to be doing. Fair enough, doubt he'll be anything but a reserve/sub this season.

Shameful the lot of you.I have to listen to rags talk the same way about Darren Gibson and i thought we as blues were better but no the guy who scores the first goal on our American trip gets the hatchet job well done guys.

Thanks for all the posts you guys.

Just wondered if McGivern had been playing in front of the back four in Big Nige style, or whether Bobby Manc had allowed him a freer role.

I know he scored our first out in the US, but what's his ball control and passing been like ??
