I didn't realise there was an issue here. Possibly the most important contact negotiations in the club as far as I am concerned.

Not wishing to sound paranoid but first it was a story about Micah and his contract which Micah dismissed then it was Zabs until Zabs signed an extension and now its De Jong...and yes okay I am sounding a bit paranoid but still makes you wonder who will be next once De Jong is sorted

Plenty of quotes in the article and Chinners bollox so maybe those that just dismiss it without reading are a bit premature!

Exactly. If the quotes are genuine then they do seem a tad worrying. Come on City sign him up ffs! He is one of the first names on the team sheet

Maybe there is more truth to the stories that link us to De Rossi?

I hope that we do not let De Jong go, I like him as much as I like Kompany.

More puns in that title than there are words in actual story.

De Jong has two years left on his contract. We are in no hurry to renegotiate it.

Also - do we all seriously think that the club doesn't want to sign Nigel up?

Of course they do.. it'll happen. Worry not.

This.

Club seems busy sorting out Joe and Micah atm, De Jong is probably next on the list.

Cannot see us not agreeing a new deal with him.

Absolute cult figure here, cuts the mustard on and off the pitch, no one better out there in his position for me.

Everyone and his grandmother knows how important Nige was for us last season, even the haters were praising him. There' s no way we'd let him go. He's basically our vice captain for the new season.

I love Nigel but he's come over as sounding like a bit of a cunt in this (added to his Mario comments which were unhelpful also). And if there is the remotest truth in the comments re Joorabchian then he doesn't just sound like a cunt.

Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong has called for patience over his new contract talks.

De Jong had Blues fans worried at the weekend when he revealed that talks over a new deal have stalled.

The fear at City is that he has consulted with Carlos Tevez’s adviser Kia Joorabchian, who has a long-running feud with chief executive Garry Cook and football administration officer Brian Marwood.

Joorabchian has inside knowledge of City from his involvement in the failed deal to sign Kaka and his representation of Tevez.

But de Jong says there is no great problem and, with two years left on his current deal, he hopes to resolve the issue.

“We’ll just have to wait and see what happens,” de Jong said.

“I’m happy playing for Manchester City so we will just have to be patient. That’s the situation for me.

“I’m still happy, I show commitment every day, but it’s up to the board to discuss the terms and how long.

“I’m not worried about it. I’ve got two years left.

“Everybody knows my status in the team – the board, the staff, the players, the kids, everyone – so that’s not a worry.

“It’s just a small thing in the back of my head but it’s not a major point. Negotiations are going on but I have to focus on the team and be patient.

“We are in the Champions League now, it’s the first time we have been in it, so for us it’s a big achievement and a big opportunity for us to show what we can do.”

Knowing how Dutch people are (very direct) , I am sure he does not actually mean the same way we interprete it but yea it does come across as quite arrogant.

He never talked about Kia, that bit was carefully added without quotes (and they would have used quotes if they could have). What would he have to say to not sound cuntish after translation into hack-speak. Reminds me about the story last year about how he was surplus to requirements and we were going to sell him. Once you read the story you can readily see that it's bullshit, but the headline hooks you.
