Welcome to Manchester! Aguero arrives for medical ahead of £38m City
Sergio Aguero has expressed his delight at arriving in Manchester to complete his £38million move from Atletico Madrid to Roberto Mancini's City.
The Argentine flew from his homeland on Tuesday night after the two clubs struck the multi-million pound deal, and took to social networking site Twitter on arrival.
He wrote: 'Just landed in Manchester to finalize the details of the offer with the City. Everything is fine! In a while I'll tell you more.'
It is understood City already have a clear idea of his personal demands and do not expect discussions to take very long.
The highly rated 23-year-old is expected to put his name to a five-year contract worth around £200,000 a week and his arrival will certainly please manager Mancini.
City are expected to lose Carlos Tevez in the coming weeks and with doubts remaining over the reliability of Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli, Mancini needs a proven goalscorer before the Barclays Premier League season begins in two-and-a-half weeks.
Blue move: Aguero is keen to finalise his move to City and refused to return to training with Atletico
Aguero has recently played with his compatriot Tevez in the Copa America and as such will be allowed some holiday before beginning his new life at the Etihad Stadium.
Tevez has been told to report back for training with Mancini's squad on August 4 and the same will apply to Aguero, meaning neither player is expected to start in the Community Shield against neighbours and rivals Manchester United three days later.
Adding to the ranks: City boss Mancini is hopeful of completing a deal before the squad visit Ireland
City travel to the Republic of Ireland on Friday for two games in the Dublin Super Cup, including the pick against Inter Milan on Sunday.
City's deal with Aguero is thought to have been sealed after the striker talked the move through with his wife Giannina, who is Diego Maradona's daughter, in Argentina over the weekend.

Injury-plagued Man City midfielder Johnson offered lifeline by Wolves
Wolves are considering a loan move for Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson.
The 23-year-old, who is also wanted by Leeds United, is fit again after a knee injury. Liverpool's Jay Spearing is also under consideration for Wolves.
City's England youth winger Kieran Trippier, 20, has joined Burnley on loan as a replacement for Chris Eagles.

City stars unite in criticism of Balotelli after bizarre backheel and furious row with Mancini
Mario Balotelli is facing up to a player backlash at Manchester City after his latest gaffe provoked an angry reaction among his team.
The Italian striker incurred the wrath of several first-team stars, as well as his manager Roberto Mancini, after wasting a glorious opportunity to score in a friendly against LA Galaxy.
Rather than take on a simple shot when clean through on goal, Balotelli attempted a bizarre pirouette and backheel which spectacularly failed much to the bemusement of everyone around him.
Midfielder Nigel de Jong was unhappy at his team-mates showboating and backed Mancini's decision to haul the striker off within minutes of the incident. He suggested the entire team agreed it was the right thing to do despite just half an hour being on the clock.
He said: 'Everybody's seen it, it wasn't a great action and the coach took a decision to take him off. That's a decision that's been made and that's a statement that the group is behind him.
'If you are near the target, you should make an attempt to score. Everybody knows that, and Balotelli too. I hope he learns from this moment and that we as a group to emerge stronger.'
Former Aston Villa man James Milner, who was sent on in place of Balotelli by an irate Mancini, was equally disappointed not see the 20-year-old at least attempt to find the target sensibly.
'Obviously I would like him to put that into the back of the net, but Mario is Mario, he does some strange things sometimes,' Milner told Sky Sports News.
'I think he's shown since he's been here he has obviously got great potential, but he's still young and still learning and hopefully he will get better and maybe learn from these sort of experiences.'
City led 1-0 at the time through a Balotelli penalty but conceded shortly after half-time and required a penalty shootout to eventually overcome David Beckham's MLS outfit.
Mike Magee, who equalised in stunning fashion, also weighed into the argument.
He said: 'It's not something I would do. We might be a step down from the Premier League as far as leagues and stuff, but we know we're good. If that was a 6-0 game and he does that, probably someone would have whacked him. Me, personally, I don't care what the guy does.'
Balotelli reacted furiously to being substituted and become involved in a heated exchange with his manager.
Speaking afterwards, Mancini said: 'We need to be always professional, always serious, and in that moment I did not think Mario did this. That is why I took him off.
‘He knows he made a mistake. In football you should always be serious and if you have a chance to score, you should score. I hope he has learned his lesson.
‘It is punishment enough for him to be substituted after 30 minutes. But for me it is now finished.
‘But Mario is young. Sometimes he makes mistakes. But I want to help him always. If Mario is serious, he can play for 90 minutes. If not, then he will join me on the bench, as he did. It is the same for all players.’
Asked what Balotelli had said to him, Mancini replied: 'It was in Italian. In English I would find it difficult to give you the translation. But Mario is streetwise, he knows he was not offside.'
Galaxy coach Bruce Arena said: ‘I thought it was odd. I don’t know what the player was thinking, whether he thought he was offside or not.’
Elsewhere, Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the incident.
He wrote: 'Mario Balotelli is fully off his barnet... from now on am referring to him as "The Renegade"... he amuses me greatly with his antics.'
Later he added: '"The Renegade" is definitely mentally unstable, some of his stunts are the ultimate in lunacy. How do u [sic] manage such a complex person??'
In another tweet, he said: 'Am genuinely worried that "renegade" might harm himself if this perverse behaviour, is not addressed. He needs understanding not undermining.'

NASRI'S ONE YEAR TO STAY
SAMIR NASRI has told Arsenal he is staying at the club for this season.
And Gunners skipper Cesc Fabregas’ future it set to be decided by Monday, with his chances of remaining at the club boosted by Barcelona’s attitude towards his signing.
Nasri, who has been a £20m target for Manchester City this summer and also courted by Manchester United and Chelsea, has accepted Arsenal’s stance that they will not be selling him.
Boss Arsene Wenger said earlier this month Arsenal did not deserve to call themselves a big club if they let star players like Nasri and Fabregas leave.
And the Frenchman has the support of the board, with members accepting midfielder Nasri can leave on a free next summer if he does not sign a new contract.
City tried to entice Nasri with a deal worth £160,000 a week but the France international has agreed to put his future on hold for another year.
Starsport revealed last week that the club were set to up their pay offer from £90,000 a week to £115,000 but Nasri knows he will be in a strong position next summer if he lets his contract run down.
He will command a signing on fee of around £10m plus big wages if he becomes a Bosman free.
The Fabregas saga is due to be concluded by Monday, with Arsenal wanting Barca to improve their £34m offer to much nearer their £40m valuation.
Starsport understands that despite Barca claiming they can wait until the end of next month, the Gunners want it sorted out.
Wenger wants to know whether Fabregas is stay- ing prior to the Gunners’ media day a week tomorrow when squad photographs will be taken and numbers assigned.
Fabregas, 24, is thought to have been less than impressed with Barca’s attitude after they revealed he was only their second target this season, behind Chilean Alexis Sanchez.
“Sanchez was always our No.1 target,” said their negotiator, vice-president Josep Bartomeu. “Fabregas
was always No. 2.”

Manchester City's eight transfer hits and misses
The quest to find a goalscorer at Man City has not ben entirely successful.

Robinho: £32.5 million, 41 apps, 14 goals
Manchester City stunned the world when they paid a British record for the Brazilian, but his on-pitch impact was fleeting. Lent to Santos and sold to AC Milan.

Jo: £18 million, 21 apps, 1 goal
Signed by Mark Hughes from CSKA Moscow in 2008, the Brazilian failed to impress and is now on his fourth loan spell.

Craig Bellamy: £14 million, 40 apps, 12 goals
Brought in by Hughes in January 2009, the Welshman remains popular among fans but – in entirely predictable fashion – fell out with Roberto Mancini before being lent to Cardiff.

Roque Santa Cruz: £18 million, 20 apps, 3 goals
Pursued by Hughes for a year, injuries restricted the Paraguayan to a bit-part role. Ostracised by Mancini and lent to Blackburn, where he failed to score in five games.

Carlos Tévez: £32 million, 63 apps, 43 goals
The one outstanding striker at Eastlands since Abu Dhabi took control, and a talismanic figure at the club. Glorious on the pitch, but troubled off it, the 27-year-old is determined to leave.

Emmanuel Adebayor: £25 million, 34 apps, 15 goals
The Togolese managed a more than respectable strike-rate that was dwarfed only by his penchant for disruption. Fell foul of Arsenal’s fans and Mancini, and was lent to Real Madrid.

Mario Balotelli: £18 million, 17 apps, 6 goals
Had City bought the Italian for entertainment, he would have provided excellent value – darts, kung-fu, chicken hats, parking tickets and the rest. Per goal, he is rather more expensive.

Edin Dzeko: £27 million, 21 apps, 6 goals
The Bosnian, a terror in his time at Wolfsburg, has proved surprisingly inept in England, managing just two goals in the Premier League and grateful to the likes of Notts County for boosting his figures.

So Mario's goal ratio is less than 1 in 3 then? Imagine what a success that would be portrayed as at the Swamp.

Carlos Tevez 'very close to Inter Milan transfer'
Inter Milan have reportedly moved a step closer to ending Carlos Tevez’s Manchester City misery, after holding talks with the player’s representative.
The unhappy striker was spotted having a chat with Inter’s technical director Marco Branca while on holiday in Sardinia, and now it’s believed the Italian Cup winners have held opening discussions with Tevez’s negotiator.
Adrian Ruocco was said to have met with an Inter delegation in Argentina after the Copa America final, and the two parties left 'very close to an agreement', according to Ole newspaper.
Although it appears the Nerazzurri have not made an official approach to Manchester City, Eastlands insiders fully expect Tevez to eventually complete a move to Inter, with the fee being the final stumbling block.
It has been suggested the Serie A giants may propose a deal similar to the one that took Zlatan Ibrahimovic to AC Milan – that being an initial loan move with a fixed fee set to be paid in a year’s time.
City would obviously prefer straight cash, but with limited offers on the table, and the imminent capture of £38million Sergio Aguero, the Blues may not be left with many other options.

VITAL BOLLOX
Manchester United Evening News Is A Sham
Vital Manchester City received the following article from newbie, Winkwink.
I think it's about time ALL City fans boycotted this publication. It's the only way we will get them to change the craven editorial bias against City and the distortion of the forums by the so called moderators.
Why have I arrived at that conclusion?
As any Blue will surely know, trying to post on the forms is becoming increasingly difficult. Rags seem to be able to produce any number of bland, inane posts without any apparent attempt by the moderators to filter there input. Ok I can just about live with that but when I, as many others have found, attempt to respond to the ignorance and blatant lies more often than not the comments are not posted.
What can the agenda be of the moderators other than maintaining the bias? The MUEN should be representative of the whole community not simply a narrow some glory hunting section of not particularly bright United fans. Its only very rarely do you see an intelligent and insightful comments posted by a United fan. Most of the other contributions which are numerous are puerile, intended solely to wind up Blues and without any class.
Rags will claim that I can't take the banter but without the ability to post responses it's not banter it's a monologue. Time to act now.
They need hits to earn advertising revenue. Spread the word and treat them as they have treated us for years. Ignore them, marginalise them and make them pay through their pockets. It would be great to see MCFC set up some kind of forum.
I appreciate that this might cut across Vital Manchester City but we need something to counter the MUEN. The rot has to stop.
The quality of the MCFC sites coverage already far outstrips the increasingly poor and unimaginative and hardly news delivering MUEN. Garry Cook has achieved a great deal at the club. A further helping hand in ridding rid of the need to access the MUEN would be a wonderful gift to the fans.

EVENING BOLLOX
The one thing the Premier League is truly lacking
Premier League is often billed as the Greatest League In The World Ever ™. Compared to its European counterparts, it is often held up as a shining light for all things great and good about the beautiful game - on a weekly basis it boasts excitement, action, quality and a smattering of drama along the way to boot. So it may come as a shock to some that upon closer inspection that this exalted league of ours lacks a truly global superstar (both financially and out on the pitch) to pin it’s sizeable marketing drive behind.
Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo packed up those ever so tight shorts of his for pastures new with a world record move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2009, the league has lacked a truly definable top talent.
That is not to say of course that the league lacks world class players. Of course it doesn’t. Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Cesc Fabregas are the envy of club sides the world over just for starters. However, there isn’t that one big name that takes games at the highest level by the scruff of the neck and delivers in the same way that Ronaldo did. That would walk into any other club side in the world.
The Premier League may be the best league in the world to the paying public at least, but when it comes to the minds’ of the players, it will always remain a poor second to La Liga.
England is a breeding ground for world class talent. It’s here that emerging talent above any other league is given the platform to perform, with it’s hustling and bustling style making or breaking even the best. But when it comes to the best players in the world, they only ever see the pinnacle of their career playing for the hegemonic duo of Real Madrid or Barcelona over in Spain.
Last season’s Premier League, while fascinatingly and rather unusually competitive for the most part, lacked a true standout performer. Tevez threatened for spells, Van Persie probably would have been had his team-mates not capitulated when the going got tough and the likes of Gareth Bale, Dimitar Berbatov and Charlie Adam all enjoyed their respective moments in the sun.
To put it another way, in no other year in recent memory would Scott Parker or Raul Meireles have finished the season with an award in tow. Despite both of them enjoying consistent yet unspectacular campaigns, they were rewarded for their performances as there was simply no bigger, brighter name able to step up and perform consistently as is customary at end of season award ceremonies.
What is concerning though, is that some of the league’s world class talent looks set to depart, with the likes of the aforementioned duo Tevez and Fabregas angling for moves away from our fair shores.
Some will say that this marks the dawning of a new, exciting and increasingly competitive era. But ask yourself – has the status quo really changed that much? Man Utd won the title, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City all sealed Champions League qualification as expected and Liverpool and Spurs sealed the other two European spots. A league works best when there is something to aim at, a standard to work towards. With concerns to it’s quality, the league may be lacking behind La Liga now – or to put it better, solely behind it’s big two.
The Premier League has and always will be a league that fosters and creates the next big global superstar as opposed to buying it. At no point in time has one of the top three players in the world moved to the Premier League to ply their trade by choice. This is obviously down to several factors outside of our control such as culture, weather etc, but it‘s a point worth noting.
But with several of the league’s big name players looking at moves away and the likes of Chelsea and Man City struggling to compete in the transfer market despite their relative riches, now more than ever before, the Premier League lacks quality, and with it, a true global superstar.

'I am a City player' - Sergio Aguero announces he has signed for Manchester City
Image
Atletico Madrid striker claims he has signed a deal at Roberto Mancini's side via his Twitter account, as Premier League big boys add another big money name to their squad. The Argentina international was in north west England earlier on Wednesday to iron out the details of a £35 million move from the La Liga club, and has now revealed a deal has been made.
The club are yet to confirm the transfer, but the 23-year-old took to his Twitter account to reveal the news.
"I am a City player already. I am happy to be at this club and in this city. Thank you everyone for the welcome and the reception !!!," Aguero tweeted.

So he's signed and twittered: http://twitter.com/#!/aguerosergiokun , tune in at 1pm tomorrow for the ***official*** press conference. We've been tipped off and can now reveal a bit of the cringeworthy script ...

"I am happy to be here as part of this project. Manchester seems a lovely place and I've head that all its inhabitants support City"

Rooney admits City threat
United star believes neighbours will be battling it out for league title
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney believes neighbours Man City will be firmly in the title race next term.
Last Week former United favourite David Beckham played down City's rapid development in recent years, saying "they are never going to be Man United".
But Rooney has acknowledged the threat they pose and is confident they will be among the Premier League contenders during the coming campaign.
"There are at least five or six teams that will compete for the championship this year, among them Manchester City," he said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"But in the Premiership, more than in any other country, you have to sweat even when you face teams that are at the bottom of the table."
Rooney is still only 25 but told the Italian newspaper he has no plans to move abroad during his career.
"I've never thought of it," he said.
"I'm happy in Manchester and in England, and I have my family here so I have no reason to leave."
If Rooney wasn't English, he admits he would like to play in Brazil's national team, but the United star has also been a big admirer of Italian football.
"I grew up watching Serie A on TV," he said. "It was football that everyone knew, perhaps the most beautiful in Europe.
"Of course, now it is not the same as before, but if you look a team like AC Milan, full of champions, it is always a good spectacle.
"I still enjoy it (watching Italian football). AC Milan is the team that I like best, even historically.
"We've faced them several times and I can't forget the two times they've beaten us in the Champions League."

Burnley rival Rangers FC for Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss
According to reports Burnley are interested in Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss.
The Sun claims Clarets boss Eddie Howe is eyeing a loan deal for the Slovakian international.
It is understood Howe views Weiss as a temporary replacement for Bolton Wanderers-bound Chris Eagles.
The 21-year-old, who spent last season at SPL champions Rangers, looks set to go out on loan again for the next campaign.
The Gers are also keen to bring him back to Ibrox and he has also been linked with a loan move to Spanish club Espanyol.

TOP 10 EXPECTAIONS
With Aguero just confirmed a bit late for this latest poll it's left to Dzeko to fly the flag in the forthcoming pressure stakes
With the transfer window in full flow and money being spent like theres no tomorrow the pressure on players to shine is rapidly increasing.
New faces with a hefty price tag are expected to shine more than most as they try to justify the huge outlay weighing heavily on their shoulders. Established players are also required to perform to the highest standard in a fight keep their place in the team now laden with superstars.
There a number of players in the Premier League who the fans, managers and chairmen expect to shine in the 2011/12 season. Can they live up to their promise and succeed the expectations set or will they flounder?

Dzeko
A glut of goals in Germany caused City to spend £27 million to bring him to Manchester and they’ve yet to see the best of Dzeko. Six goals and some timid displays have left fans questioning his purchase. However with Carlos Tevez on the way out the feeling is that the Bosnian has to step up and fill his shoes.

Interesting view on Manchester City and the Fair Play B*ll*x
Wednesday, 27 July 2011 Written by Administrator Uefa recently made the announcement that they will investigate Etihad’s 10 year 400 million pound sponsorship of Manchester City to see if it contravenes the new Financial Fair Play rules. They have announced that they will make an assessment based on fair values and benchmarks, what exactly these are is anyone’s guess.
Manchester City right now a club that’s daring to dream and its dreaming big. They could implode or could end up being the biggest club in Europe, we just don’t know. Manchester City are just about to enter their first season in the Champions League can they win it? Again we don’t know. It’s unknown territory for City as its their first time in it.
But the vultures of the big clubs in Europe are already wanting City and the deal investigated. The claim is based on the fact that the Etihad Airlines is owned by the government of Abu Dhabi which has relations to Sheikh Mansour, Manchester City’s owner.
Are Manchester City trying to get round the financial fair play rules by the fact they are manufacturing a deal that is much higher than the true market worth? If they have is that really a problem? Does this not go on in general in business as well as in football?
But does it not work both ways? If Manchester City want to buy a player does the selling club not automatically push up the price creating an unfair market value? The same can be said when clubs want to buy players from City. Take the case of Jerome Boateng for example, Bayern Munich wanted to buy him for around £12 million, Manchester City wanted to sell for around £20 million. So on one hand you have a club like Bayern Munich wanting to buy a player under the market value and on the cheap, yet on the other hand wanting City to be stopped from a sponsorship deal that could be argued is over market value. Surely you cannot have the argument both ways?
A lot of the fuss over the sponsorship deal is the fact that clubs like Bayern Munich and the other big clubs around Europe are already financially incredibly wealthy and after financial fair play will continue to be so. It’s the carving up of the empire and they unwilling to have Manchester City have their share.
Yes Manchester City have an unfair advantage over clubs but so did Chelsea, for many years, under their billionaire owner. Barcelona and Madrid have an unfair advantage in Spain due to the TV deals being heavily in favour of them and in Madrid’s case being propped up half the time by huge loan or over market value buy out of training grounds.
The point is Manchester City by some are seen by us an upstart but they are not going away. What isn’t well reported is the good work they are doing in the Manchester community and the charitable work they are doing. Uefa for too long now have been complicit in their arrogance and can we really believe the most financially astute minds to judge these are based at Uefa?
