For those of you who are old enough to remember this momentous event, what were you doing? I was 6 years old and was chucked out into the garden to play on my own , my mother was also sent off out of the way somewhere by my dad, he had a few mates round and my brother was allowed in to watch it because he was 10 , I could hear all this shouting and cheering coming from the house and can remember thinking whats that all about.

Aye, I'll always remember where I was when Kathy Whitworth won the Ladies' Golf.

I have no idea what you're on about.
Maybe that's because I was minus twenty then though.

Watched it at home on BBC prior to going to Belle Vue speedway that night. Never forgot Tofik Bakhramov the "Russian" (actually Azerbaijani) linesman nodding his head yes.

The year was 1966, even without the month and year most people could probably work it out.

Oh yeah :D
I genuinely didn't even bother trying to work it out. I would have realised otherwise...as it is, i really couldn't care less. Not a big fan of the national team - though I think that's more a generational thing.
