Bolton to move for Man City winger to replace injured Lee
Bolton boss Owen Coyle is ready to move for Shaun Wright-Phillips after reeling from the news that Chung-Yong Lee faces a season on the sidelines.
Coyle will open talks with Manchester City for little SWP - either on loan or to buy - and hopes to persuade the England international to come in for stricken South Korean Lee.
Wright-Phillips played and scored for a City shadow side in Dublin but Roberto Mancini will not be using him in the big games this season and has cleared the way for his exit.
The popular City star is on big wages and that may be a problem to Wanderers, but he could take a sensible contract as he lives in the area and knows he will play every week.
Coyle has cash for two more attackers. However that was thrown into the air by Lee’s horror injury against Newport County which is a double fracture that will take around ten months out of his career.
Lee is in hospital in South Wales after an operation and he will be out of football for the campaign, a cruel blow following a crunching challenge by Tom Miller who was subbed after the incident.
Coyle visited Lee yesterday and is ‘gutted’ about the break for his highly-rated wide man who had been in prime form in pre-season games.
Now Bolton will move fast to fill the gap. New boy Chris Eagles can also play on the right wing, but Coyle does not want to run with a small squad again after a dip at the end of last season through lack of numbers.
Bolton are also chasing Liverpool striker David Ngog and could go for Birmingham City’s Cameron Jerome is his value dropped. Leicester City have raised the bar in that chase.

Fergie using City clash to run rule over new arrivals
Manchester United have vowed to treat next Sunday's Community Shield as part of their pre-season campaign despite the "tasty" nature of their clash with Manchester City.
It is less than four months since City overcame their old rivals in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, the penultimate stage in ending a 35-year trophy drought.
On the same day Roberto Mancini's men were completing that significant task, United secured their record 19th league title, ensuring the most significant warm-up for the Premier League campaign will be between the two Manchester giants for the first time since 1956.
It seemed certain the significance of the occasion would have some bearing on Alex Ferguson's tactics.
However, United assistant-manager Mike Phelan is adamant the match will be used for fitness, even if the stakes are rather higher than normal.
"It is no different," said Phelan. "It is a tasty one, of course, because it is the two Manchester clubs coming up against each other. But we may try out a few new things. We have a week to prepare. The FA Cup semi-final was disappointing. But this is a new season.
"We will have a look at a few new players to see if they can handle it and take us into the league. That is what it is all about. Manchester United is all about challenges. You get them every day. Next Sunday will be no different."

Celtic in provisional talks to sign Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy, confirms Neil Lennon
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed provisional talks are under way between the Scottish Premier League side and Manchester City over the possible sale of Craig Bellamy.
Lennon stated on Friday that he hoped to use the occasion of both clubs finding themselves in the Irish capital for the weekend to establish whether a deal for the Welsh international was possible and admitted after watching his side sweep aside an Airtricity XI 5-0 that informal discussions have been held.
“We will maybe know more on that in the week,” said the Celtic manager. “Talks have been going on in the background. I believe there have been conversations between the two clubs.”
At what stage those conversations stand remains unclear – Garry Cook, City’s chief executive, and Celtic’s majority shareholder Dermot Desmond played golf on Friday – but the financial gulf between the two sides is such that any transfer is likely to be difficult to accomplish.
Bellamy is not thought to be prepared to take a substantial cut from his £90,000-a-week wages at the Etihad Stadium, a sum Celtic simply could not hope to match.
City are not currently prepared to allow the player, who spent last season at Cardiff, to leave Manchester again on loan, believing that they will be able to recoup some of the £14 million fee they paid to bring him from West Ham in 2009.

Harry's at it again.YAWN.

Man City just blow us away, says Spurs manager Redknapp

Harry Redknapp admits Tottenham cannot compete with the 'crazy' spending power of Manchester City.
The Spurs boss is trying to add to his squad and confirmed his interest in Valencia star and Arsenal target Juan Mata over the weekend.
But Redknapp is hampered by only being able to offer wages of around £60,000 a week tops while City's wage bill for their seven forwards is close to £1million every week.
Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli, Edin Dzeko, Emmanuel Adebayor, Craig Bellamy and Roque Santa Cruz are on the books at the Etihad Stadium but at least three of them will be looking for loan moves when they don't make the final squad list.
Redknapp, who is keen on Adebayor, said: 'Imagine what their wages will be. It's incredible. They are all on £100,000 a week plus. Wages have gone crazy.
'It's gone beyond belief and made it really hard to compete for top players. If you want to be a top-four side, it's difficult because we can't pay those kind of wages.
'Our chairman Daniel Levy runs the club well, we get 36,000 fans, you're not going to put the club in hock. How do you compete with the Man Citys of this world?'
The lack of transfer activity at White Hart Lane has not gone unnoticed with Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson all but writing off Spurs' chances of finishing in the top five of the Barclays Premier League.
But Redknapp added: 'Fergie didn't mention us. He stuck Liverpool in there this year and probably with what they have brought in, it's looking that way.'

It would be a bad move to sell SWP imo. He has shown his quality this pre season and deserves a place in the 25 man squad.

EVENING BOLLOX
Inter Star Turns Down Russian Offer But Hints At Manchester City Move
Inter Milan superstar Samuel Eto’o has confirmed that he has refused a sensational bid of €20 million per-season offered by ambitious Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala.
The Cameroon international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Nerazzurri this summer, after recently revealing his desire to play in the English Premier League.
Whilst confirming his Russian rejection, due to a lack of European football, Eto’o also hinted that he may still be inclined to join an interested English club.
“I turned it down because the Russians aren’t playing in the Champions League and my objective is to win that trophy again,” Eto’o told Tuttosport.
“Manchester City? Anything is possible,” he added.
The Citizens recently secured the services of Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero, and with Mario Balotelli looking likely to return to Italy, Eto’o would be a timely addition at the club.

Chelsea back in race for striker as City bow out – reports
Chelsea, Manchester City – Swap deal between Samuel Eto’o and Carlos Tevez won’t take place
Roberto ManciniWe've been working for two to three weeks. It's not easy. We need players to change our squad Chelsea are back in the race for Inter Milan star Samuel Eto’o, with Manchester City denying a swap deal will take place for Carlos Tevez.
"It's not true," Mancini said in Dublin last weekend, when asked if a swap deal for City and Inter was on the cards.
"It's not easy to find players who will improve us. We can choose between two or three. But if we get these we don't need other players.
“We've been working for two to three weeks. It's not easy. We need players to change our squad. It's the first time we will play in the Champions' League."
Mancini’s insistence that Eto’o is not making a move to City will no doubt come as a boost to Chelsea, who have been reportedly targeting the star for some time.
While Chelsea were waiting to make their moves in the transfer window until they found a new manager, now that Andre Villas-Boas has been in the post for over a month, fans and pundits alike are anticipating when he will make his first big money signing.
City’s swap deal of Eto’o for Tevez would have put United’s reported plans to buy Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan into disarray as well, with Inter surely not willing to let go of two of their stars this summer.
But should Chelsea purchase Eto’o, United will face the same problem, and Sir Alex Ferguson is monitoring the situation very closely.

The cut of Mario Balotelli's jib; and Joey Barton
Image
The Fiver has always liked the cut of Mario Balotelli's jib (and the cut of his bib). Indeed, the chippy Italian recently rocketed even further in our estimation for trying a freestyle back-heel that so enraged the kind of increasingly insufferable fans who support their teams by tut-tutting anyone who tries to entertain in a manner they deem inappropriate for a meaningless kickabout, or booing everyone for failing to win such nothing matches. Anyone who gets the goat of those kind of petulant, obnoxious and excessively demanding divas is all right by the Fiver, who considers it an added bonus when the player in question is exactly the kind of person said morons would almost certainly describe, with a stunning lack of self-awareness, as ... a petulant, obnoxious and excessively demanding diva.
In this week's strop, which to be honest doesn't much read like a strop to the Fiver but is naturally being portrayed as one by a news-starved football press pack, Balotelli has become the latest foreign striker on Manchester City's books to state that he is homesick, doesn't much like Manchester and at some point in the future may return to the club he supports which is located in his native country. As revelations from people from outside Manchester whose work brings them to the city go, it's hardly sensational stuff. Let's face it, you can hear a lot worse grumbling from better-educated folk now that the BBC's move of 1,500 folk to Salford is under way.
"I am not happy in Manchester," mused Mario on Italian TV after scoring a goal against his old side Inter in the highly prestigious Pointless Cup That Nobody Except A Few Queen's Celtic Fans Could Be Bothered To Attend, And Let's Face It They'll Watch Any Old Guff in Dublin's spanking new Empty Stadium. "I do not like the city. With my team-mates and my manager, everything is fine, but the city is not to my tastes. I miss the chance to be at home with my family and friends."
Considering by April he'd notched up over £10,000 in parking tickets and had his Maserati impounded 27 times, you can kind of understand why Balotelli might not have warmed to Manchester. Even if his parking skills appear to be even less deft than his ability to back-heel a football, he hasn't exactly been made to feel welcome.
But for all his grumbling about his adopted locale, Balotelli hasn't given it the Full Tevez by throwing his rattle out of the pram in a parabolic arc and announcing he wants to leave. "At the moment, I am attached to Manchester," he declared. "Adriano Galliani [the Milan chief executive] says that sooner or later I will go to Milan. I would like to, but we will see."
The upshot? In what could well turn out to be the most laboured, unfunny computer game related pay-off construction in Fiver story history, it seems that however grim it remains for Balotelli in Manchester, for the foreseeable future, it seems Super Mario's more likely to elicit cries of "By gum!" rather than "Bye goomba!"

Bellamy rules out Bhoys move
Welsh frontman's future remains uncertain
Sky Sports News sources understand Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy has no intention of joining Celtic this summer.
The Bhoys are keen to bring the Welsh hitman back to Parkhead, either on a temporary or permanent contract, following his loan stint there from Newcastle in 2005.
City and Celtic were thought to be in negotiations over a potential move, with Hoops manager Neil Lennon having confirmed his interest in the frontman.
However 32-year-old Bellamy, who has a year to run on his City contract, has made it clear he has no interest in rejoining the Scottish Premier League giants.
The Welshman had also been linked with a loan move to Cardiff this summer, where he spent last season.
But he has previously ruled out signing for any club on loan, stating his intention to see out his contract at the Etihad Stadium should a full-time deal fail to materialise.
Bellamy's wages are likely to prove a stumbling block in any potential permanent deal, but it appears unlikely that Mancini will be able to find a place for him in his star-studded side this season.
Striker Sergio Aguero has recently arrived from Atletico Madrid as the natural replacement for Carlos Tevez, who is expected to leave this summer, while Mancini also has Edin Dzeko, Mario Balotelli and Emmanuel Adebayor at his disposal.
The manager left Bellamy at home for City's pre-season trips to the USA and Canada and Ireland this summer, suggesting the former Blackburn and Liverpool man will not figure in his first-team plans.
