City sign Costel Pantilimon ?!? (update)

http://www.realitatea.net/costel-pantil ... 59047.html
http://www.onlinesport.ro/stiri/fotbal/ ... ilimon.htm

And every single romanian newspaper.

Placed on the transfer list after the demotion of Timisoara, goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon is close to a separation from Banat group and the most likely destination is Manchester City was, as the sources quoted by Gazeta Sport.

Poly's general manager, Daniel Stanciu, revealed only that it is a strong Premier League club and is more likely to be ceded to England Pantilimon than at Udinese in Italy, which did not submit a tender please Banat.

"There is interest from two large Pantilimon clubs in Europe, Udinese and a club in England, who made a good offer from a financial standpoint, but the long term. We see today what happens next. I can not confirm right now it's Manchester City, can only say that today I received the offer and that in future days to come representatives of the team to discuss the conditions of transfer. I hope that within a few days to make, "said Stanciu, the GSP TV. (used google trans. because i didn't have the patience to translate everything)

Florin Manea, FIFA agent: "I think the chances are, if there is an offer, it's hard to deny Manchester City. Costel trusts him, he can play on a team of this caliber, expect to resolve the situation, they can go. "

Pantilimon's future sounds perfect. Though haunted by the nightmare second league, the former goalkeeper of Police is the protagonist of the hottest of the summer transfer. Goalkeeper came to Timisoara 5 years ago, the Aerostar Bacau, agreed with Manchester City and şeicii the band will sign with the Albion.

"We understand discussions have been extended in recent days and finally reached a positive result. In the next few hours will clarify everything, and will sign the contract if Pantilimon understanding will be respected," he revealed Florin Manea , player agent. The slope of training camp Friday night left the national team and took the first flight to England to meet with British officials and sign the contract. Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed sent a private jet for 8 seats Gulf Air Fokker type.
And club officials initialed business Timisoara and slope will be sold for 2.5 million euros. "There was interest from those of Udinese and from a club in England. They made a clear offer and now waiting for club representatives to set up everything," he explained Daniel Stanciu, sports director of Timisoara. British offer is liked by Marian Iancu, who was not satisfied with the 1.8 million euros provided by Italy's Udinese.

The romanian press confirmed the transfer for about 2,5 mil. Oh lord, what a mistake we made.

The lad is mediocre, Stuart Taylor has a class over him, trust me, i see him every weekend. He was the national team gk, but only because the other gk, was out of shape. If Mancio will confirm, we made a horrible mistake.

He is tall like a tree, i give him that, but his arial ability is extremly poor. Even Dennis Wise can score with a header.

Well that doesn't sound too good. What even gave us idea looking for back up keeper around the world when there are few alright and experienced keepers available in England. Stupid really.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

why is there nothing on this from NewsNow? i haven't seen anything about it since i saw the OP some hours ago...usually they'll have a link to a story, no matter its native origin, from their site, but zero on this one.

seems strange, unless we're desperate and the Sorensen thing that's been discussed the last day or two fell through maybe? Where's Rob Green gone in all the turmoil at the Hammers? he probably doesn't want to play second fiddle somewhere, but...i didn't see him linked or signed with any Premiership clubs yet.

The most weird thing is that every single keeper that the romanian nationals have, and here we talk about the main, u21, u19 and u17 team is that all of them are scared of crosses and every single one has about 1.92.

I've watched newsnow and every british newspaper in the last day, and no one even talked about this transfer and that makes it a little odd. If you google the romanian newspaper sites, 90 % of them are discussing this so called transfer:
http://www.google.ro/#hl=ro&sa=X&ei=aKo ... 81&bih=902

For me this transfer doesn't make sense, why a young keeper, who (supposed) wants to be the national number 1, will accept a transfer to a team where he will always be a backup? Last year from the national keeper, he became the reserve of Timisoara's keeper, a brazilo-portuguese who was a really disaster and Pantilimon looked ok after receiving his paycheck every month. If you don't care for football at his age, and only for money, then you really have a problem.

I really hope that the City lead is a hoax made by his agent, for Udinese to raise their offer.

LE: He is doing the medical right now (source Gazeta Sporturilor) :http://www.gsp.ro/fotbal/liga-b/pantilimon-e-in-anglia-sa-semneze-cu-man-city-acum-face-vizita-medicala-250443.html

Roberto Mancini was the man who brought us our first trophy in 35 years. He was the man that brought us our first league title in 44 years. He brought us one of the greatest moments of our lives. He masterminded a 6-1 win at Old Trafford, and a Wembley win over United. He challenged Ferguson, he argued with him on the touchline, he brought success, and he punched the air in delight with the rest of us at the madness of it all. He had style, panache and a winning smile. All those memories he gave us will never be forgotten, in a wonderful period in this club’s long history.
And I swear, we’ll never see anything like it again.

The only question that springs to mind is why have we still got Stuart Taylor? If he's not good enough to step up to the No.2 position then why is he here?

To be honest I think they'd try and coax Niall Quinn out of retirement and stick him in again before we'd see Stuart Taylor get another game

Yep. The lad is on a downslide in the past 2 years. When he became number one, at Poli, he was a great keeper. After 6 months, Juve made an offer for him, the club refused and that was the end of him, he started making mistakes. In june, WBA almost sign him, but they didn't accept the fee.

Pantilimon is the Juventus version of Ed VDS.
